THAT IS THE OLD...STOP CALLING IT GLOBAL WARMING!!! THAT IS THE OLD BUZZ WORD! USE 'CLIMATE CHANGE' INSTEAD AS IT ENCOMPASSES EVERYTHING! Global warming was too limiting. Now we can claim ANY kind of weather as 'evidence' of Anthropogenic Climate Change.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23292180.post-29425748983096593052007-06-18T16:29:00.000-04:002007-06-18T16:29:00.000-04:00"Unfortunately, when "mere" Canadians speak out ag..."Unfortunately, when "mere" Canadians speak out against the ongoing disaster that is the Tar Sands as it is currently being developed, the folks out in Calgary just don't listen."

They don’t listen because it is not true.

BCL, why don’t you take a trip this summer and visit Ft. Mac to see this “environmental disaster” for your self. May I suggest that you drive, just be extra careful on hi-way 63 so you don't hit any of the plentiful wildlife that cross that hi-way everyday on your way to the tar sands.

Are the tar sands affecting the local environment around Ft. Mac?

Yes!

It is impossible to create such a large hole in the ground without affecting the local environment. Since the total land mass that the tar sands use up is just a fraction of the land mass that metropolitan Toronto uses up I would say that the City of Toronto is much more harmful to it's local environment then anything the tar sand can do. As for CO2 emissions, I'll bet that all those 3 million plus cars in the Toronto area put out much more CO2 emissions per year then anything the tar sands can put out. It seems to me that you environmentalist are targeting the wrong area of the country. The city of Toronto because of it's enormous size is much more harmful to it's local environment then the tar sands are and Toronto puts out much more CO2 emissions then the tar sands do so why aren't all you environmentalist protesting the very existence of the city of Toronto? Is it because most environmentalist live in big cities like Toronto and have never been to all these horrible "environmental disasters" that you rally against so you really have no idea what is really going on in those areas. Also if you environmentalist really care about the environment you would put pressure on cities like Toronto to clean up their act by dismantling the city and converting it back into the wild zone it was before you horrible people destroyed the local environment by building the city in the first place.

Oh wait a minute.

If you did this it would personally affect you financially so it is better that you protest about some tar sands that is 2000 miles away and will only destroy the livelihood of people you don't like anyway. Albertans!

When you people protest for the destruction of large cities like Toronto to protect the enviorment I'll take you seriously, until then you are nothing more then hypcrites that only cares to protect the enviorment when it personally does not cost you anything.

DenoDenohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07421501933250460653noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23292180.post-44751058864566344512007-06-18T14:44:00.000-04:002007-06-18T14:44:00.000-04:00This comment has been removed by the author.Denohttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07421501933250460653noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-23292180.post-18855516064247620802007-06-18T11:49:00.000-04:002007-06-18T11:49:00.000-04:00"...When people were asked to name the top environ..."...When people were asked to name the top environmental party, 67 per cent chose the Green party, 45 per cent chose the NDP, while just 22 per cent said the Liberals were the best on the environment..."

I guess that means -34% chose the Conservatives. Only 28 per cent said the Liberal party had done enough to regain the trust of Canadians after the sponsorship scandal of Jean Chrétien's years in power.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
