25,000 DayCare Spaces Promised, 0 Delivered

...and Harper's "...plan for creating more spaces hasn't even been completed yet."

Furthermore, since the plan just rehashes a failed Mike Harris initiative from the 1990s--offer businesses $10,000 in tax credits for every space created and pray they make a few--it is likely to be about as successful if it ever comes to fruition.

In fact, having created 0 spaces, it is already as successful.

Celine loses second MP as Lapierre decides for the TV set over the Liberal caucus. Another one bites the dust.

Dudley Dion, salvaging caucus solidarity from the ruins of the Cretin/Martin civil war.

Just the kinda leadership the Lieberals deserve.

In the Tories' defence, their misguided tax cut plan to create childcare spaces was ALWAYS slated to begin for the 2007/2008 tax year wasn't it? They said they'd give 250,000 in credits starting in 2007, and that would create, they believed, around 25,000 spaces a year. I tend to agree that it won't work, but it seems a bit disingenuous to criticize a scheme that hasn't started yet for not working yet.

Saying it WON'T work a year before it starts is one thing, and I'm on board with that opinion.

Saying it HASN'T worked a year before it starts isn't fair though, and people should stop using that line of argument.

The rate at which Celine is losing MPs there will be lots of day care spaces in the Liberal caucus. It'll give them something worthwhile to do.

After seeing this website about the problems with daycare, I wonder if "Zero Delivered" is a bad thing...
