They're switching from white cars with fancy blue and gold stripes to the old black & white "flying Holsteins". Apparently, there are too many white cars on the roads these days for police vehicles to stand out properly and establish their visual Authority.
And the new cars look far, far less Gay. With the white frilly models, people wondered whether they were hauling you off to jail or the bath-house.
PS. Anyone know where the name "flying holstein" originated?
ah and here I was just gettin' use to them polictically correct colours.
ReplyDeleteAs for the term .. maybe it came about after a night of cow tipping in one of dem dar farmer towns
:)
thanks for the laugh
I'm not sure about that nickname but I did hear that most veteran OPP officers still call their cruisers (cars - just to clear that up!) their "black and white."
ReplyDeleteI read the article in the London Free Press and the veteran officers were going gaw-gaw at the idea of bringin' back the ol' "black and whites."
I think they look kinda cool.
A new paint scheme for the OPP. So will the TTC, paint its new subway carriages?
