Paul Jackson's column today,
on Stephane Dion: 500+ words of ill-temper and hate. No paragraph over one sentence in length, it begs the question: do people get paid to write this stuff? It also seems to refute the claim that its the
blogosphere that suffers from the curse of thuggish
partisanship. At least we're not suffering alone.
agreed . . terrible writing.
ReplyDeleteBut very true. Dion is just living elsewhere, believing in whatever. He is just so typical of an academic, living on the thin, oxygen deprived air that comes with the heights of the ivory tower where he came from.
Academics make poor politicians.
Dion & Iggy . . . both yours & welcome to them.
As far as Dion being “an absolute fool” perhaps Jackson is working on the premise that it takes one to know one.
ReplyDeleteI don't think the man has had an intelligent thought in his life. Clearly, it's a trait passed down from his parents.
Harper is also an academic. The difference between them is that Dion does not travel around with a pyschic hairdresser pretending to like Tim's coffee.
ReplyDeleteimagine having your dreams for all the power in the land thwarted by an absolute fool. no wonder jackson's pissed.
ReplyDeleteHow can you question such brilliant analysis? It reminds me of the guy (Andrew Smith I believe) who once posted that anyone who did not agree with him was stupid.
ReplyDeleteThe only thing I learned from that column is that Paul Jackson is very worried about Stephane Dion achieving something in Alberta, and Canada.
RT - after reading that column I believe the mystery of biff's true identity has been solved.
Jackson's retarded.
ReplyDeleteBut after English, the two most important international languages are Spanish and Cantonese/Mandarin.
Has he ever left North America? You can't get anywhere in the world oustide of the Americas with Spanish or Mandarin/Cantonese (two different languages, to be precise).
Frightening - Paul Jackson is the "editor" of the Calgary Sun.
ReplyDeleteHe also contributes to FOX News and the American Thinker (a totally right wing publication) - speaks volumes doesn't it?
Try emailing him and complaining about his article - he sends back his resume including a name dropping session of people he knows.
The guy is a "flake".
How can such a moron be allowed to write as a "professional" journalist?
ReplyDeleteJackson makes me sick.
ReplyDeleteHis articles are filled with hate and poison.
He should go back to swooning over his drinking buddy Ralph Klein.
Paul Jackson writing vapid, vituperative tripe in the Sun? Say it ain't so! I can still remember the glory days when the Sun was a paragon of enlightened discourse, where people like Gore Vidal and Lewis Lampham hung out to trade sharp witted barbs on the decadence and decay of Western civilization.
ReplyDeleteAs for people actually getting paid for this, yeah, they do, but you have to know someone. If memory serves Jackson is related by marriage to Conrad Black.
And Stephen Harper was never legitimately an academic. Serious academics have doctorates, hold faculty positions in accredited universities, and publish original research in peer reviewed journals.
Harper held a sinecure as a paid propagrandist for private (and undisclosed) interests in a two man talking shop.
I agree with you that Jackson is a no-brain know-nothing mouth piece for the conservative party of Canada.
ReplyDelete…and the difference between Jackson’s and the Sun’s conservative garbage and the Red Star editorial board’s liberal left garbage is????
Seem to me that Jackson and the Sun papers and the Red Star are just two different sides of the same political coin. Both spew their partisan bull-shit and hatred.
The only reason Jackson pisses you off is his opinion is on the right side of the political spectrum.
BTW, Jackson’s comments about Stephane (it’s not fair) Dion not understanding Alberta is right on the mark. When it comes to understanding the west and Alberta in particular Dion is an idiot.

To which Alberta are you referring? Presumably the one which, like Jackson, regards Harper as a "local hero" and holds a Bible close to its heart.
That isn't all Albertans however, in fact its a steadily declining percentage of the population, especially in the province's urban centers, what with all those Eastern bums, scum and unskilled ones diluting the pure laine gene pool, resulting in a concomitant and alarming decline in homophobia, fed bashing and hatred of (small "L") liberals.

ReplyDeleteI guess you can only slag him for his 'terrible writing'. Because he's bang-on correct in his assessment of Dion!
ReplyDeleteYou're right, how is it that a centrist has a job as an editor of an MSM paper? Doesn't he know that you HAVE to be an extreme leftwing ideologue?
Nice juvenile responses by the way. "Takes one to know one."
Ha!
Two words which should never appear in a PM's resume.
ReplyDeleteSociology.
Professor.
'nuff said.
Deno - aside from Jacksion's selective out takes, do you know what Dion has to say about Alberta?
ReplyDeleteSome media actually cover what Dion says, and from that I think he has a pretty good understanding of what is going on in this province, and the struggles we will be facing if we continue to rely solely on the energy sector to support our economy.
Deno - aside from Jacksion's selective out takes, do you know what Dion has to say about Alberta?
ReplyDeleteDeno...it's a valid question. Why didn't you answer?
He's busy trying to insert the suppository into his ear...
ReplyDeleteGet this... Jackson rankles at another Grit leader and his value to Alberta --
ReplyDelete'Is Dion delusional?
"I'm telling you this Quebecer is much better for Alberta than the prime minister you have today," he told a feeble-minded massing of fawning Liberals.
Now, this is ridiculous, particularly coming from a man whose energy policies would bring catastrophe not only to Alberta, but to the rest of the nation.
Never forget he apparently holds the Kyoto Accord as close to his heart as the rest of us hold the Bible.'
Okay, until Jackson (and all the other frontal-lobe lobotomized right-whingers on Harpor's bandwagon) come out and say the federal government was wrong to encourage and invest (through tax breaks and R&D grants) the oilsands project should their opinions count on this subject.
CON-soitafibs want you to believe they can sit on both sides of the fence. Arar is a terrorist and Liberals were willing to defend him/the Liberals didn't fight for Arar hard enough, the Liberal PMO is too secretive a society/we'll guard the keys and knowledge and ask the questions, thank you!, accountability/fortier etc etc etc...
It's like the Republicans trying to torch both Hillary and Obama, saying 'Now's the time the US needs a president with military credentials' -- like the current one?
"Deno...it's a valid question. Why didn't you answer? "
ReplyDeleteWell first of all, unlike you I work for a living.
2nd, I don’t have time to sit at the computer in my underwear all day like you obviously do.
BTW, when was the last time you change your underwear?
3rd, I have a life, too bad you don't.
Deno
And yet, while you have time to respond to ti-guy, my question goes unanswered - which I suppose is the answer.

ReplyDeleteDion believes in Kyoto and wants Canada to follow through with it.
Kyoto is a bad deal for Canada based on bad science.
If Dion wins the next election and tries to implement Kyoto Alberta’s economy will tank! There is no way to implement Kyoto without seriously hurting the oil patch. While I’m sure you and many on the left believe that we can have both strong economic growth and have much lower emissions, I don’t believe it for a second. Anyone that understand how vital the resource sector is to the Canadian economy and how energy intensive extracting natural resources from the earth is will soon realize that to implement Kyoto as it is written today we will have no choice but to seriously cut back in the resource sector.
My job is directly related to the oil patch, coal burning power plants and pulp mills.
Kyoto will put me out of work.
Dion supports Kyoto, I need to be able to keep feeding my kids and keep a roof over their head. To do that I need to keep working so this is why I would never support anyone who wants to destroy my job.
As for Dion’s idea that Alberta need to diversify our economy.
Dah!
Albertans have been talking about this for years. Dion is only stating the obvious without offering any ideas on how to do this. He is just full of hot air!
Lastly, the liberals are proven to be corrupt. The Quebec wing of the liberal party took stealing from taxpayers to a whole new level. Dion was either involve with this scam or he knew about it and said nothing. Either way someone with such a low moral base should never be allowed as PM of Canada.
I didn’t answer you right away because I knew the answer would be long and I didn’t have time to write it until now. I am writing this e-mail in a hotel room in Campbell River B.C. I am working 12 hour shift at a pulp mill and I’ve already spent too long and stayed up too late with this response to you. All I’ll get for this is insults from Ti-guy so I not sure it was worth it.

ReplyDeleteAnd you still didn't answer it. I don't think you gassing on about what you *believe* (which is laughable, since you appear to be functionally illterate) is an answer to the question.
You seem panicked about losing the easy money you are getting working in the oil patch and argue exclusively from that point of view. How that is supposed to be relevant to anyone else is a mystery to me.
In any case, if you think you won't be able to survive an shift in economic paradigm, I suggest you upgrade your skills. Learning to read would be a good start.
Deno is simply buying what people like Stanley are trying to sell. It is glaringly apparent that he has never actually read any of Dion's comments about Alberta.
ReplyDeleteFor some people here in Alberta, certain things are irrefutable truths - like the liberals are bad, Kyoto is bad; the conservatives are good, and the oil industry is good. You do not need actual facts...
I'm just so tired of it. People are not entitled to their own facts.
ReplyDeleteDeno, Kyoto is not based on bad science. The global warming caused by humans is worse than the science showed at the time Kyoto was signed.
ReplyDeleteAnd why do you imagine that the economy is more important than the environment? Do you not understand that without an adequate environment, there is NO economy? If the economy tanks, we may get poor, but we will mostly survive; if the environment tanks, most of us will die.
Why are rightwingers so ignorant of real life and what is really important?
"deno is simply buying what people like Stanley are trying to sell. It is glaringly apparent that he has never actually read any of Dion's comments about Alberta."
ReplyDeleteGayle
What is Harper's plan for Toronto and southern Ontario?
Didn't think so.
Gayle is simply buying what people like the CBC and Toronto Star are trying to sell. It is glaringly apparent that she has never actually read any of Harper's coments about Toronto and southern Ontario.
It is obvious by by the comments after my last post that you people have no idea how much energy it takes to extract natural resources from the Earth. It is impossible to implement Kyoto without destroying the lively hood of 100,000’s of people. Kyoto is bad policy based on science that does hold up. I suggest you read a little more holy stick about the science of global warming, your ignorance is showing.
Basically Dion want to destroy 100,000’s job to follow through with Kyoto which will do nothing to stop global warming. When time prove him wrong he will go “oops” and then go on and collect his great MP pension while 100,000’s of people who use to work in the resource sector will have to live with the consequences of this mans actions for the rest of their lives. How typically socialist.
Deno
Basically Dion want to destroy 100,000’s job to follow through with Kyoto which will do nothing to stop global warming.
ReplyDeleteHe doesn't have time for that; he's too busy Taliban-loving.
Gawd...nothing worse than a complete ignoramus with a big mouth.
Deno
ReplyDeleteTell you what, when you read posts where I say something like this:
"BTW, Jackson’s comments about Stephane (it’s not fair) Dion not understanding Alberta is right on the mark. When it comes to understanding the west and Alberta in particular Dion is an idiot."
substituting the word "Harper" for "Dion", and "Ontario" for "Alberta", you may have a point. As it stands, you have none.
Gayle
ReplyDeleteIf Dion really understood Alberta he would be against Kyoto.
Since he is for Kyoto, he does not have the foggiest idea how harmful Kyoto will be to Alberta and any other resource province. Anything else he says is meaningless as long as he want to implement Kyoto.
Deno
Deno - and there is the flaw in your logic. Dion understands that Alberta is dependent on its oil industry. That is why he has taken pains to point out that Kyoto will not kill that industry (and whether or not you agree with that is not the point), and that Alberta has to divsersify.
ReplyDeleteSo, just because you disagree with his position does not mean he does not understand where you are coming from.
