Will Free Dominion Target ProgBloggers?

I was going to let this subject lie for a few days, but then I came across a Free Dominion thread entitled "Evidence Collecting in Support of FD's Defence", and felt I must warn my blogging brethren! Essentially, it appears the folks at FD will be trolling the Net for examples of left-wing extremism, which they will then post somewhere on the FD forum, and employ (in a manner to be figured out later, I suppose) in Connie's formal defense:

By doing this FD will be able to demonstrate that Bill W's comments do not in any way reach the level of "hatred or contempt" contemplated in s. 13 of the CHRA, as interpreted in the 1990 SCC "Taylor" decision.

They're really after the poo flinging monkeys at rabble (an effort Connie, who seems to have a decent working relationship with the rabble moderators, does not particularly support), but I also came across a reference to myself:

Gee, HERE's a guy who skates on the EDGE....

...followed by the entire Progblog link list, these being the folks I am apparently "in thick" with. So if you get an unfamiliar retard threatening to fink you out to the CHRC, or linking you back to FD, that's how they found you. I, personally, am shaking in my boots. I sure hope they don't find posts like this one, where I express my love for Saddam Hussein.

PS. Why doesn't anyone on ProgBlogs say cool shit about me like that? "Ooooh! BCL, you skate sooo close to the very edge!"

Update: The first pundit chimes in, some guy from WorldNetDaily that I've never heard of named Tristan Emmanuel. And I am not impressed:

Students of history will have heard of SMERSH. It was a forerunner of the KGB, a Communist Party commissariat under Josef Stalin.

Well, Canada has its own commissariats, in the form of Human Rights Commissions.

Some people refer to them as "kangaroo courts," but that is misleading because they really are dangerous.

Kangaroos not dangerous? This clown has obviously never had to box with one of them. Fool! They only look cuddly.

Update: They've found McLelland. Oh My!

I had a visit, though no comment, from a lovely chap whose blog makes you look like Gloria Steinem.

    Heh, now there's a visual!! ;)

I'll bet the humour of the man hating club went over his head like aeroplanes.

  2. American wingnuts go ape-shit over our human rights and hate propaganda laws.

...yet they seem largely indifferent or quite literally invigorated by the lawless crime family currently infesting the executive and curtailing civil rights in very significant ways.

I wonder if we can take out a class-action "suite" against the WingNutDaily for having infected the Canadian Right with a particularly virulent form of "stupid."

"American wingnuts" - you mean Democrats.

  4. Isn't Tristan Emmanuel that goofy political evangelical? He was in the news about a year back although I don't remember why.

  5. Olaf,

He is a Canadian (somehow I thought he was a Yankee)and has appeared on Mike Duffy and a few other places. Doesn't look like has done much to make news himself in the last little while.

Tristan Emmanuel is head of Equipping Christians for the Public Square. Canadian.

  7. Thanks bene D,

I had sideburns like that guy back in the 1970s.

  8. "Right To Life" Trissie also organized that "Canadians For Bush" rally back in 2003 that Stockwell Day and Jim Flaherty participated in.

Do you think he's confusing SMERSH with KAOS here?

BCL : In answer to your question, possibly the reason RedTory is getting more comments is because his post on WonderWoman is titled Big Blue Boob Tube.

  9. *tsk*...That's right. Emmanuel is Canadian.

Mea culpa...but in my defense, all wingnuts sound the same. When you have the Canadian wingnuts talking about "separation of Church and State" and the "right to bear arms," borders and national character seem to disappear.

Tristan Emmanuel has written in the past that Americans and Canadians need to start having more babies to counteract the hords of immigrants coming into our countries and thus saving "white culture". Fine chap, he is.

  11. So, FD is going to try the old "everybody else does it too!" defence? I doubt that's going to work since they have to defend whatever got their site into trouble in the first place.

  12. figured i would pop by to boost yer numbers vis a vis red tory ;-).

"So, FD is going to try the old "everybody else does it too!" defence? I doubt that's going to work since they have to defend whatever got their site into trouble in the first place."

great defence! although, the plaintiff may retort with the classic: "if 'everybody jumped off a bridge, would you do it too?".

As a parent, that's exactly what I was thinking. Next thing you know, they'll delete the blog and claim that the dog ate it.

  14. If this is really about free speech for them, their time would be better spent *scouring* their own forum to find examples where they've actually dealt with hate speech in a judicious manner. ie., I think they've banned holocaust deniers, white supremacists and the like. They should dig up as many of those examples as they can find.

But some of them seem to be under the mistaken impression that it'd be a good idea to antagonize the CHRC by inundating it with complaints about "hate speech directed towards Christians and white males".

  15. Doesn't Tristan have something in his past he is trying to hide...after all his real name is NOT Tristan Emmanuel.

  16. Tristan... sounds like the kind of name some guy from Moncton named "Doug" or "Gary" would adopt when he moves to Toronto in a sad attempt to sound more fab-U-lous!

In Mr. Emmanuel's case, assuming it's the name he was born with, no doubt his parents wanted a hairdresser and were heartbroken at the slack-jawed bigoted arsehole they ended up with.

  19. The crack investigative team from FD hasnt bothered to visit the main Prog Blog site yet, as far as I can tell from looking at our logs.

You'd think if they were bright, they'd figure out the easiest way to read our membership was to check the frontpage of the main site out.

    I'll welcome their traffic. ;)

Who knows? I believe there are people who do manage to struggle their whole lives without venturing into whatever frontier is causing them emotional/spiritual discombobulation.

...They just shouldn't have children. Or pets. Or particularly sensitive houseplants....

  21. Whooee! I use Pergressive Boogers as my main guide to Canajun boogs. It's a rare day when I don't check the top posts at least once. I don't always go along with everybuddy there an' I don't read every single boog. I can't think of any PB boogs that come close to crossin' the line into actionable hate speech.

So, like a famous dumbass once said -- "Bring 'em on!"

BTW, a vocal Merkan booger on the stiflin' of free speech in Canada is Glen Reynolds, the InstaPundit (100,000+ hits a day). The FD bigot brigade probbly can find some high-powered allies over in PatriotActVille, land of the free.

  22. Canadian wingnuts would be nothing without the 10% of the American population (representing the entire population of Canada, more or less) which is, as is likely to be found in any population, certifiably loony.

    God, seal the borders...

    BCL,

Truly surprised you had not heard of Mr. Emmanuel prior to this. He's one of our nuttier and more vocal talibangelicals.

Apparently he's now also the 'newest' columnist for WND.
    Described here as:
    http://worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=56844

"a leading culture warrior and author in Canada... As founder and president of Equipping Christians for the Public-square Centre based in Jordan Station, Ontario, Emmanuel helps lead believers in Canada to mobilize against what he sees as "the absurdity of political correctness."

Emmanuel says he writes "as a Christian cultural apologist, defending the need for advocating and living out historic and comprehensive Christianity today."

Although he has previously contributed to WND:
    http://news.google.ca/nwshp?ie=UTF-8&oe=UTF-8&hl=en&tab=wn&q=Tristan%20Emmanuel

He's also been both an Ontario provincial and federal candidate for office:
    http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tristan_Emmanuel#Electoral_record

He's a member of the Christian Heritage Party. You know, the folks who believe Canada should be governed according to biblical teaching.

I've always wondered if some Americans are paid to post on FD to keep pushing The Republican Way.

  25. Wouldn't surprise me. And the wingnuts work cheap...

I wouldn't be at all surprised holly since FD began as an offshoot of Free Republic.

  27. "if 'everybody jumped off a bridge, would you do it too?".

I believe the correct answer to this question is: Not again.

Free Dominion bans a TON of posters. They have a choice in whether or not they allow people to post. Perhaps they should be looking at what they've kept...Many people who don't express the hatred Bill does have been banned. Connie chose to keep him.

If they allowed everyone to opinions there, regardless of how offensive they might be, without banning anyone things would be different.

I seem to recall telling Connie,"Freedom of speech has to be for everyone, not people we agree with." I was banned! Nasty girl!

Think of it like the NFL and the CFL. It is a last chance to play, as it were... J.B. Stone is a prime example, he is hated at Free Republic so he posts at FD. If he was allowed back at Free Rebublic, he would disappear in a shot. That would be great because I happen to like FD but he, and people like that freak Roy Wilson, really drag the place down. In fact, I recently read that Roy helped close down a CBC board. I am starting to think that there is a Karma factor at work here. Free Dominion should not have to pay this price though. It's a shame.

This is just an observation. I hate censorship for any reason and truly detest people who make it their business to silence others, like Roy. I believe that if FD is "found guilty" (whatever that will mean) there will be endless complaints submitted to the CHRC about every other board out there. Roy will no doubt lead the way, if history is any indication. But of course Roy is Jewish so he'll say he is "fighting anti-Semitism". He is one of the worst people I have ever encountered on the net. I have to think that 99.9% of Jews must cringe with embarrassment when he vomits out his nonsense.

Long live Free Dominion! Long live free speech!

  30. I remember Roy Wilson from my time at the CBC Forums before they were shut down, and it would not at all surprise me that he was one of the main reasons for it given his behaviour back then. Given what I have seen since from him whenever I have browsed at FD over the last several years it would also not surprise me if anon at 7:50 AM called exactly right in how he would respond to a successful complaint against FD. He is a really angry person and is one of the ugliest personas I have ever encountered.
