One of Neil Young's discs is the obvious and only credible choice for top Canadian Album, ever, but I think in choosing Harvest Bob Mersereau picked the wrong one. For my money, #1 can be no other than the vast, soaring Live Rust (1978), with its one side of pretty folks tunes, and its three sides of feedback and other varieties of electric mayhem. Highlights include PowderFinger (written for Lynyrd Skynyrd just before the plane crash) and a fifteen minute version of Cortez the Killer where Neil tries out his pidgin-native-Indian accent towards the end.
any Ann Murray album kicks his skanky yankee loving butt
