Hijab Sanity Breaks Out In Alberta!

How the hell did this happen?

CALGARY -- Muslim girls in Alberta will be allowed to wear hijabs while playing soccer, ending the latest battle over religious clothing in sports.

[...]

Under a ruling announced Tuesday, the association said players will be allowed on the soccer pitch if they're wearing a sports-friendly hijab approved by the game's referee.

Whereas in Quebec, where they do all sorts of allegedly progressive things like dump cheese curds on Fries, and where the downtown men of Montreal prance about in fish-net stockings, they're still bashing Muslims and wallowing in their own Catholicism. How could these folks get out-evolved socially by a bunch of cowboys from a town where the streets all run one way? What's happening in this country?

  1. What's happening in this country? Poor leadership in practically every aspect of life.

I think progressives of all stripes should lay off the lowly mouth-breathers a bit and target those at the top...politicians, courtiers, religious leaders, "journalists," CEO's, celebrities, etc. Not a day goes by that I don't become astonished at how abysmally stupid most of these leaders are. And when I say "targeted" I mean principled character-assassination...their dessicated characters need to be exposed.

...after the season of "Peace on Earth, Goodwill towards Men," of course.

"What's happening in this country? Poor leadership in practically every aspect of life."

The "jizzload" of unaccountability was sure to follow the "fellatio" of Liberalism. You knew this when you voted Liberal, so stop pretending, you're not fooling anyone.

So what does that tell you about your preconceived notions about Albertans?

    Money supercedes all.?

I am sure this move isn't because they care.

Alberta is now losing more people than its gaining for obvious reasons. My parents live there and they hate it. The only source of skilled workers now tend to be immigrants so in order to keep them and attract more, Alberta is caving. If not these people would move to more hospitable areas like Ontario and B.C.

It isn't out of the kindness of their hearts for sure. More like from the depth of their pockets.

Wait a few years and they'll go Quebec on the immigrants when they notice the number of Mosques, Temples, etc start to equal the number of churches.

What is so stunning about you leftards is that you think nobody else has the right to be elected in this country except you leftards. When a conservative is elected anywhere, you react like Satan himself has seized power from you illegally, and there is no tactic of yours too shameless, disgusting, irrational or dishonest that you will not use to "beat back the conservative menace". Why is that? What is it in your psyche that causes you to think you have the ONLY answers, that you alone are the only ones smart enough to tell others what to do? In the face of overwhelming evidence to the contrary, you believe your policies can never be wrong because you believe your ideology is never wrong. Well, it's wrong. It's wrong a lot. And you seem to think that the rules of society developed over thousands of years are randomly chosen constructs that can be changed without regard for the consequences. Maybe a good psychologist could explain it.

And prescribe a treatment for it.

Gee...Westerners showing common sense and tolerance!!!

Isn't that the birth-place of modern Canadian Conservatism???

Unfortunately "progressives"don't seem to understand that true conservatism includes respect for other people and their beliefs.

It seems to me many "progressives" are much more intolerant of anyone and anything that doesn't fit into their little pre-conceived notion of what is correct.
Not that some Conservatives aren't guilty of the same.

Point being, as a Conservative I am tired of automatically being identified by "progressives' as a...knuckle-dragging, homophobic, racist, sexist pig...when nothing could be farther from the truth

That they were wrong? Maybe, but I'm still gonna make fun of them.

    Thank you for the chuckle!!!
First time you have actually made me laugh.

Usually I find your political rants a little over the top and tiresome.
    No offence meant.

It just seems to be the default mode for many Liberals. Much like name-calling and attacking anyone that doesn't agree with their POVs.

Merry Christmas to you and yours...if that offends...to f'ing bad!!!

    Exactly.

I am glad you are slowly catching on. The fact is leftards form better governments. Look at Harpoon wallowing in the low 30's AS a PM. No leftard PM has had that crappy a number during his first two years. Speaks volumes about the CRAP righties support. Even Paul Martin was doing better in his death throes. Its called common sense something the right doesn't get. Harper only one through lying (accountability act, income trusts, atlantic accord, etc, etc.) and the NDP's smear campaign.

Why do you think only 1/3 of Canadians voted for Rightards? And the number is falling...quickly.

    Ha ha ha.

  12. Canuck 1955,
I agree with you. I consider many conservatives progressive in many ways but unfortunately you have no voice in the CPC. Its been muted bu the far right Harperites. What you are suffering thorough is what the supporters of Harperites have created, a black or white label. All liberals this or that so in turn all right has been lumped together.

Liberals are not lefties btw they are lefties and righties working together but all are progressive. Iwho would not want to be consider progressive?

I am now using the same techniques used against me so deal with it however you can.

Ever think about trying to "right" this wrong?

The best way to return Canada to conservative hands is by keeping abortion legal. And utilized almost exclusively by one side of the political spectrum.

  14. I hear the latest Decima-Harris poll has the Libs ahead of the Cons 32% to 30%. The Anons will be mad as hell today, I'm sure.

As for the ruling, it doesn't surprise me at all. Despite all the rhetoric, Alberta is actually a fairly progressive place. Really.

Cheese curds are the whey to go.

Muslims have been settling in Alberta for more than a century. The first mosque in North America was built in Edmonton about 1938. The third mosque in North America was built at Lac la Biche, Alberta by the Lebanese community there about 1958.

  18. Whew - for a moment there I thought I would have to side with the anons and defend Alberta. Fortunately RT and HS beat me to it.

    Signed

The progressive Albertan who lives in a riding that actually votes liberal and NDP. So there.

Back when Little Mosque on the Prairies started, someone was arguing that it was not believable to have Muslims living in a small prairie town; so I looked it up then.

  20. When Romney said numbers didn't warrant having a Muslim in cabinet, I was curious and researched when we first had a Muslim cabinet minister in Canada.

It was Larry Chabin, in Alberta, in the 1980s.
