...by not issuing press credentials for the Bali conference on Climate Change to reps from its weekly "Environment & Climate News ". If you're wondering why, check out this interesting article on the plethora (about one per state) of right wing "think tanks" down in the U.S.
Like Scholotzky's Delis, the conservative think tanks offer a very limited menu: They publish reports advocating deregulation, privatization, property rights, school choice and a few other topics. And each produces reports that sound the same as others, just as an order at any Scholotzky's tastes the same.
Weirdly enough, I actually know (have spoken with, e-mailed) one of the "villains" of the piece, a fellow named Wendell Cox who has done some work for the Wisconsin Policy Research Institute. He has also produced research on international housing costs which I have occasionally found quite useful. Small world.
I'm gunning for the Manning Centre for Conservative Social Engineering, a "fellow" of which is Stephen Taylor.
ReplyDeleteAnd by "gunning," I mean I hope the Iranians nuke it.
OH MY GOD!!! YOU MEAN TO TELL ME THAT AMERICANS HAVE RIGHT-WING THINK TANKS!??? THE WORLD IS DOOMED!! I CAN'T CAPITALIZE THESE LETTERS ENOUGH TO SHOW MY FEAR!!!!
ReplyDeleteConservative Social Engineering - telling people to quit whining, grow a pair and deal with it.
