Daughter: Dona Cadman Should Run As Independent

"If it was such an indecent proposal, how are you in good conscience running for that particular party?"

Tough spot for the Tories. We can assume that if Mrs. Cadman leaves the party Surrey North is a write-off for them, and if they're ex-candidate is running around saying Stephen Harper tried to bribe my husband, it will have national implications. I don't know how her campaign manager Bill Zemianski can argue that:

"The prime minister supports her 100 per cent and she supports the prime minister 100 per cent."

"We have, like any family, a few disagreements, but this will not in any way impact on her running as a Conservative candidate."

Well, but one of the disagreements is that Dona Cadman has used the term "bribe" to describe the actions of Stephen Harper's Conservative Party, and he has essentially called her and/or her late husband a liar:

[James] Moore, a B.C. MP who repeatedly referred to Cadman as a dear friend, made denial after denial in the Commons that an insurance policy had been offered.

[...]

"The prime minister made a recommendation to him that he rejoin the Conservative party, as he was previously a member, so he could be a candidate for us in the coming campaign," Moore said.

This is just ruminating on Garth's part, but I hope some back-room Libs are taking it seriously.

Poor Liberals - doing their best to manufacture a scandal. If that's their intent may I suggest trying something going on with the present government instead of years old nostalgia. That might just get some traction.

Read Jim Travers's open political advice to the Liberal Party in today's edition of the Red Star or don't at your own peril.

The Liberal Party of Canada has gone from the big leagues to the little leagues under Dion.

Actually, this one's a doddle, Biffrances. It's practically writing itself, and the not just by the Liberals.

If Biffrances raised his/her head from the Conservative lap every once in a while and let the sucking noises subside, s/he would have noticed that.

Anyway, I'm already bored since I'm not seeing any new evidence. Move to the police investigation (although someone please pay attention to the cops this time) and get more juice into this, if there is any.

We all know Conservatives are liars (as the sock-puppets here demonstrate all the time); it's about time we find out just how far they'll go.

  4. There's nothing else to this story for two reasons. The first, as Kay points out, is that a skilled political operative such as Tom Flanagan would never be so stupid and crass as to make that alleged blatantly illegal offer.
Secondly, issuing a million dollar life insurance policy to a dying man is nonsensical from the get go. In any case there can be no paper trail so it's all hearsay . Ergo any investigation is a complete waste of time and resources. Yes I know that all the Libeciles are praying and hoping that this issue will rise up and smite the evil neocons but the Coalition of the Clueless will have to come up with something a lot better than this. Have your barium enemas and how about asking Martin why he didn't bring this up a year ago when he first heard of it.

Ti-guy like I say, read Jim Travers of that Liberal party organ The Toronto Red Star. The Liberals have to get their act together or the Conservatives will supplant them as Canada's natural governing party. As he says, they made a mistake at their convention in Montreal and they're still paying for it.

Little antics like what a dead man did or didn't say is called GRASPING AT STRAWS.

and all this was happening when Liberals were on a bribing mission to get Grewal to cross the floor ??

Let's make sure the RCMP investigate all the goings-on at that time.

Note that much of what is being said is only said inside the House, in the libel free zone.

Says a lot about the level of scandal manufacturing going on.

Sorry...you need to remove that big Conservative dong you've got lodged in your throat if you want others to even begin to start listening to what you have to say.

And even then, don't bother. The last time any Conservative told something useful had something to do with taxes.

Harper doesn't know how it's done.

Here's how you really bribe someone, Liberal style, the Pro way.

"r. Dosanjh . . . “Nobody will make you totally blunt promises, because that is not done in politics, usually. [But] cabinet right away may be possible.” At another, he said, “You have to be able to say that ‘I did not make a deal.' That's very important. That's why this kind of deals are not made in that fashion.” And at yet another, Mr. Dosanjh said, “I'm sure rewards are there at some point, right. No one can forget such gestures but they require a certain degree of deniability.”

Or, as Mr. Murphy put it once: “As you will see, the PM will say we are not offering and making no offers. And I think that is the narrative, we have to stick to it. Or make the PM a liar.”"

  9. The one sure way you know a story has traction is by measuring the number of mindless con trolls who post something like you see here.

It is three days later and still the trolling brigade is out in full force.

The liberals have not manufactured a scandal - this one had legs without any liberal input. The best the cons can do is rely on Jonathon Kay and Mike Duffy to somewho try and spin this their way. As Duffy desperately tries to save Harper, he inadvertently gives more weight to Ms. Cadman's story. And the "smear the grieving widow/con candidate" has not panned out that well.

I highly doubt anything will come from an RCMP investigation simply because the witness they need to prove this died. In a way that might hurt the cons more, as the issue will never be satisfactorily resolved for some voters. I am willing to bet most people will accept that Cadman would have been more likely to lie to the media than to his family.

But hey little trolling connies, at least you must be making more money now that the bosses have sent out the whole team to do damage control.

  10. There's nothing else to this story for two reasons.

This is why Conservatives don't understand science and think the forensic parsing of language is the same thing as evidence.

You can't assert this without knowing if there is in fact nothing else there. Do you know this? Can you demonstrate why that is?

I'd have less of a problem with this if they'd apologise for or retract their baseless assertions every once in a while, but they rarely do.

Malawhatever...you're really just showing how brain-dead the Right is. Why you'd waste any energy demonstrating what we already know is, well...odd to say the least.

  11. ''Let's make sure the RCMP investigate all the goings-on at that time.''

    Bingo
I'm thinkg that the Dippers on the Ethics Committee are thinking exactly that.

    on the (authenticated) Grewan tapes:
'...Mr. Grewal asked to be made a cabinet minister and have his wife put in the Senate.
Mr. Murphy said Mr. Martin had forbidden him from offering a reward outside of politics but let on that the party would lay out
"a welcome mat that has a lot of nice comfy fur on it." (Wink-wink. Nudge-nudge.)

(Libs take note here) 'Mr. Dosanjh went further, telling Mr. Grewal:
"In fact, cabinet can be arranged right away."...'

    Becareful what you wish for.

    ReplyDelete
  12. Nice try, but Grewal was investigated already. He doctored the tapes and wasn't allowed to run for the Conservatives again.

If the best example of integrity you can dredge up is Grewal than Harper is well and truly screwed.

Grewal was looking to be bought, named his price and the Liberals weren't buying. He taped the conversations to have a back-up plan, then doctored them to hide the fact that HE approached them.

By all means, let's dredge Grewal up again. With any luck we'll finally get his useless mute wife out of the Commons too this time.

Liberals are crooks. Conservatives are crooks too. The difference is that Conservatives, from Mulroney and Harper on down, are staggeringly inept crooks. Small wonder their defenders are such complete morons. Who else could be taken in by a lying buffoon like Stephen Harper?

Check out Biff's comment at Small Dead Animals.

    It's become a feature post:

    Breaking!!

Liberal sources are disclosing that there were additional elements to the Cadman bribe!

In addition to offering a patient in the final stages of terminal cancer a one million dollar insurance policy, Harper is reported to have offered Cadman a unicorn, and a magical forest in which to ride his new beast.

Although experts unanimously agree that unicorns, magical forests, and million dollar insurance policies for terminal cancer patients, don't actually exist, Liberal insiders are firm with their allegations.

Said one source close to Dion:

"Look, if Harper can manage to hold onto power for over two years, pass three budgets, a crime bill and maintain his Afghan position, with three left leaning parties holding more seats than the CPC, he can certainly produce unicorns, and insurance policies for dying patients."

Meanwhile, the Globe and Mail is sending its crack team to investigate the obviously legitimate concerns of Conservative unicorn production. Stay tuned.

    ReplyDelete
  14. Biff's comments would work so much better if Harper the crook hadn't already admitted it, don'tcha think?

Everyone knew "insurance policy" was a euphemism for cash under the table. Hey - I wonder if Mulroney was going to chip in some of it from the hundreds of thousands he took from Schreiber?

It's only been two years. Can you imagine what this gang of crooks would look like after 10 years in office? At least the Liberals wait to get in to office before they start the criminal activities.

Ti-guy, BCL and other Liberal mudrackers:

BCL didn't give us a post on the budget but said his two cents on Kinsella's combox before he closed it down. It basically agreed with the Liberal policy of let's wait for the polls to get better.

Strong policy and strong leadership move polls. The Liberals offer no alternative to the budget. They acquiese to Conservative economic policy. They get lampooned mercilessly by Rick Mercer of the CBC who's mad as hell that the Liberals are not opposing the bad Conservatives. In other words, the base is upset. How can you blame them?

In lieu of policy alternatives from the government in waiting we get amateur mudracking. The CBC and the Red Star are interested in this story, no one else.

But by all means, keep flaying away with this stuff and continue to fail to provide evidence of a plausible government in waiting.

The new Liberals: bush league politics that'll keep them mired at 30% or less guaranteed.

You're all making Harper look like a genius.

Once again T-Guy has shown what a complete left-winged assh____ he is. When he has nothing concrete to offer the discussion he lashes out as usual.

In a court of law, "heresay" is NOT allowed. What Dona and Jodi Cadman have said is "heresay". What Chuck Cadman said (numerous times) is fact and not "heresay".

And he said 'THERE WAS NO BRIBE".

    ReplyDelete
  17. "The CBC and the Red Star are interested in this story, no one else."

Keep on dreaming my little connie friends. Maybe if you close your eyes it will all go away.

And the term is "hearsay", and if you understand the rules of evidence you know that there are such things as exceptions to the rule against hearsay.

That said, I am not sure Cadman's statements to his family fit within the exception.

And I do not care, because voters are going to understand the only reason this cannot be substantiated is that Cadman has died. They will also understand that Cadman was telling his family the truth.

  18. What a surprise. The anony-tards and sock-puppets are becoming insulting.

"Be a Cunt" must be the recurring, daily event these guys have set in their electronic calendars.

Does CPC Central establish that automatically as soon as you become a member of the Party?

  19. The difference is that Conservatives, from Mulroney and Harper on down, are staggeringly inept crooks. Small wonder their defenders are such complete morons. Who else could be taken in by a lying buffoon like Stephen Harper?

I'd qualify this by saying that Liberal crooks know that they're being crooked...Conservative crooks never think they're doing anything wrong.

  20. CBC News has obtained a copy of the audio recording of the interview.
"The insurance policy for a million dollars, do you know anything about that?" Zytaruk asks.

"I don't know the details. I know that there were discussions," Harper replies on the tape. "This is not for publication?"

Interesting to know why Mr. Harper asked that question, is this interview being published or not.
    Something to hide?

Why did Grewal resign in disgrace? Because it was found that he tampered with the tapes - nice try, but we do remember.

Liberals didn't manufacture a scandal - they just jumped on it when it was found out - nice try though - we pay attention.

Harper government is going from big liar to little league crook - we are paying attention and the lies and phoniness are adding up rapidly.

Here's what Warren Kinsella, Liberal Party attack dog/strategist has to about this issue on Liberal Party fortunes:

"I talked to an impressive member of [Dion's]staff at the Heritage Dinner, this week,...and suggested that the Grits seem to be waiting for something big to happen.

What? When? The polls have been steady for two years. The Liberals and the Tories are more or less tied. What cataclysmic event is going to alter public opinion? The Chuck Cadman affair, following in the wake of the Grewal affair? Don't think so."

Sorry to rain on your parade Gayle and Ti-guy. Warren Kinsella knows a little bit more about politics than you two. Ti-guy sounds like a broken record or CD. Gayle puts forth a variety of partisan banalities almost entirely devoid of insight.

But please go read Kinsella's posts today - you may be able to salvage what's left of the week-end instead of following this fizzled firecracker of a story.

  25. It's important to take note of the mystical animal involved in the deal: the unicorn.

That wasn't by chance. As many on the left know, Harper drinks the blood of unicorns in order to sustain his evil powers,

and so he keeps a stable of unicorns on hand at all times. For him, throwing a unicorn into the deal was therefore no big deal at all - evil AND shrewd, now that's a potent brew.

  27. Ooo Warren Kinsella does not have the same opinion as I do.

Why, I am doomed...DOOMED I tell you! How can I ever be taken seriously again!

Or, you know, Warren could be wrong, what with the fact he is not infallible and all.

Tell you what frances, if this is not a big deal, then why don't you stop with the hystrionics and go on to other blogs?

The rest of us will rest easy knowing you are occupied with something important.

From where do you think Biffrances is copying 'n pasting his/her histrionics from?
