I Thought Everyone One in Saskachewan Had Dirt Under Their Fingernails
...being farmers and all. But according to soon to be X-Tory MP Tom Lukiwski its just the homosexual ones. Unfortunately, Mr. Lukiwiski's future career choices are limited. The role of local asshole blogger is already taken.
I'm just waiting to hear how they explain how Lukiwski's apology negates the necessity of the government reviewing its' relationship with the people of Regina-Lumsden-Lake Centre, as well as the funding that goes with it.
Brad Wall can be forgiven since he was 15 and everyone knows teens don't have a fully grown frontal lobe and lack the necessary common sense to know you don't say these things, especially on video and in the context of politics. Starngely the same happens to older folks as their frontal lobes shrnk.
Unfortunately for Mr. Lukiwski the much touted line "that was 17 years ago" doesn't hold water. He was 44 at the time. No excuses can write that one off since how does that saying go "You can't teach an old dog new tricks". At 44 you are what you are and all you'll ever be. For Mr. Lukiwski to ever recover from this he has to voluntarily take it on himself to resign or at least step aside while he does some volunteer community service, preferably with gay kids or at an AIDS hospice. Nothing else will suffice.
I've always wondered why people think it's right that people who are in one way or another vulnerable should be used to allow a scumbag to atone for his disgusting behaviour. No gay kid or PWA should have to deal with a piece of shit like him - they've already had to deal with too many in their lives.
Egale Canada's executive director Helen Kennedy said the apology didn't go far enough.
"He hasn't apologized to the community that he offended. He apologized for getting caught, he apologized on behalf of his family, he said he was ashamed of what he said, but he never directed his apology to the gay community. In fact, he never said the word gay once in his apology."
Reality check: he's going to get away with it because the bottom line is he's in no way different from other Conservative MPs. Not one tiny little bit.
We all know, or know of, people who make or have made overtly racist or bigoted comments.
I know one person who is a freind of my wife, who makes routinely racist remarks. He does so in a joking fashion, I assume as a way to self excuse the behavior.
He is a staunch Liberal.
I do not, however, conclude that all Liberals are "racists" as I'm able to appreciate that racism/bigotry and various other societal evils are not the province of one or another political affiliation.
To do so would be bigoted in an of itself.
Decrying bigotry while at the very same time engaging in bigotry is surely the province of a true bigot, for the bigot's main fault is ignorance, and the inability to appreciate ignorance in oneself.
Uh...Brad Wall was 15 years old 16 years ago? That would make him a 31-32 year old...So...he was running a business with the City as a client at the age of 14 in 1991? It's my understanding Brad Wall is at least 41, so 16 years ago, he was about 25 and last I heard, that was legally an adult competence. So, the same accusation of 'maturity' applies to him.
Virtually every Conservative has proven he is a bigot by virtue of voting against equality for gays and lesbians at every opportunity. It's not an opinion. They're on the record as bigots.
And the only person who has used the word racist in this thread is you. So fuck off.

ReplyDeleteI guess you have to keep wishing that, because the alternative is too scary.
Don't worry...we're going to rehabilitate you.

Wouldn't you agree?
Bet you get that story about your wife's buddy same place you get your polling numbers, biff.
ReplyDeleteWhat one does, or does not, counter or oppose, speaks volumes about what they believe.
ReplyDeleteFor instance, you let stand uncontested, comments on this thread suggesting that virtually every Conservative is a racist bigot.
Yet the notion of a single Liberal being racist results in your challenging it as being false.
Very telling.

Hey RB. You lose your pacifier? Try sticking your thumb in your mouth after you wash it with soap.
