Lesbian Senator: "I Will Have Lukwiski's Balls!"

"Apologies are never enough," [Senator Nancy Ruth, the only openly gay member of the Conservative caucus] said. "There always needs to be action."

Unfortunately, she intends to be tactful about it. But I say, Show him some cold steel, sister! Its the only way guys like that learn.
In any case
She suggested Lukiwski spend some time in his constituency with a group of gay, lesbian, bisexual and trans-gender people to develop a better understanding of the challenges they face.
If he joined the Regina Gay Pride parade he could wear his old "leisure suit Larry" outfit. He'd fit right in.

"the only openly gay member of the Conservative caucus]"

Factually inaccurate. Baird declared on (local) television that he's gay. Once. Which is enough.

The fact that he isn't a "professional gay politician" 24/7, or not a slave to the militant gay lobby, or making political hay of his orientation, is a separate issue.

Of course the city of Ottawa has a long tradition of gay conservative politicians who rose above the ghettoization of their sexuality and *earned* their respect by the content of their character and their competency.

It was common knowledge that Charlotte Whitton was a lesbian when she was elected mayor - in 1953. Nobody cared; she was city comptroller and a woman of substance and that is what mattered to the burghers of Bytown.

We were a much groovier people in the 70s, and 50s, and 30s. I've seen your generation's 8mm movies. This political correctness witch-hunting represents a step back, not progress.

Nancy Ruth (real name: Nancy Jackman, yes, that Nancy Jackman) is a anti-pornography activist, for context, and not especially popular in the gay community due to her "no fun" ethos. I thought that was important to mention.

  3. I thought Baird was the gay cabinet minister the CH said was still in the closet.

When have I ever been wrong, or lead you astray?

I repeat: John Baird is not a closeted gay man, and has acknowledged his orientation at least once on television.

  5. I'll agree with *the thing*, only because I really don't care. As the saying goes, it does not matter who the politicians are shagging as long as they don't do in the streets and scare the horses.

Baird has got a lot more problems than his being gay. Talk to his parents sometime.
