From the new Ipsos Poll:
...fully one half (50%) ‘disagrees’ (26% strongly/24% somewhat) with this notion, suggesting that they believe the Prime Minister still might not be sharing his full plans with the public, particularly if he wins a majority government. Fifteen percent (15%) of Canadian’s don’t know what to think about this.
Furthermore, one half (50%) ‘agrees’ (30% strongly/20% somewhat) that ‘electing Stephen Harper and the Conservatives to a majority government would be like electing US President George Bush as our Prime Minister’. Four in ten (38%) ‘disagree’ (23% strongly/15% somewhat) with this statement, and 12% are unsure."
Personally, I go around telling people that I've seen the Hidden Agenda, and that if Harper gets a majority...bye bye metric system! That item is in the chapter 10, just after the secret recipes.
And of course, here's an example where the Tories really did have a secret agenda, and people died because of it.
What ?
ReplyDeleteNo more 2x4's at Home depot ?
sad really.
There will always be 2X4s. It'll just be beer.
ReplyDeleteThe polls certainly confuse me. Are the Cons no longer in majority territory as the media have been dutifully touting for the last week?
I keep getting told voters aren't paying any attention to the gaffes made by the Tory reps and believing everything bad said of Dion's leadership. Then when I protest, I'm told I'm not 'average' and the 'average' media-receiving voter is what counts...and apparently the 'average' voter is dumb as snot, which apparently the Cons are counting on, hence why they don't care about gaffes.
Honestly, I'd like to have the other parties take it away from the Cons just to hear the voters aren't gullible maroons. It's so insulting.
The media, especially the punditocracy, definitely think Canadians are stupid. But that's because they're pissed off that, with the advent of the world wide web and greater ease of fact-checking, we all found out they don't know what the hell they're talking about and probably never did.
ReplyDeleteAlso, it's because we ARE stupid.
ReplyDeleteBeggin' sir's pardon, o'course I meant to say, "We ARRRRRRRR stupid"
ReplyDeleteAlso, it's because we ARE stupid.
ReplyDeleteWe're not being paid to be smart, like our punditocracy is.
Anyway, Canadians are not stupid. 35% of them appear to be fatally gullible, however.
