I am an undecided voter who has voted Tory and Liberal in the past. It occurs to me that both parties come to the table with dirty hands on a number of issues. I am still an undecided voter, believe it or not. I may very well vote for the flying yogis this election because I dislike the mean spiritedness of the Tory campaign and I utterly loathe the idea of Dion's carbon tax.
Grumpy, the letter thing is hardly of the same magnitude as the Tory lady's criminal record. You have a habit of seeing equivalence where there is none.
>>You have a habit of seeing equivalence where there is none.<<
Ah, so basically there's an equivalency scale when it comes to these things. So while sending a letter in support of an international drug trafficker is a bad thing, it's not as bad as a candidate who was not properly vetted and who has a criminal record.
Thanks for clearing that up for me, I truly want government in Canada where one party isn't as "bad" as the other party.
Well I am so pleased that the best either party can do is to be "less disreputable than the other guy". I don't know what's worse, the disreputability of either party or that people like yourself believe this should be acceptable to the voters of Canada.
I think I will blog about our discussion. The question therefore should be, "how to vote when the best either party can do is to be slightly less disreputable than the other guy". Thanks for your insights.
So Ti-Guy, are you suggesting that it can only be a good thing for a sitting Liberal MP to write a letter in support of an international drug trafficker? We already know that a candidate with a criminal record is a bad thing, I'd be interested in learning how you believe we voters can benefit from any MP who writes letters of support for drug traffickers. I eagerly await your answer.
"So let me get this straight...you're in favour of nun raping?"
I can't wait until the Internet is sophisticated enough to allow me to reach through the monitor and throttle the wingnuts until their eyes bug out like a cartoon character. That will be a great day.
Answer the question because you're avoiding it. Actually scratch that, I will rephrase it so you better understand:
Do you think the Liberal Party can benefit when one of it's MP's sent a letter in support of a drug trafficker.
It's pretty basic and sometimes I just want to reach through the monitor and hold your hand while you think it through. I know it's hard to write commentary with a helmet on your head, but I have complete faith in you Ti-Guy - I believe you can do it, so come on now, try a little harder... for me.
GV - are you saying you will refuse to vote liberal because an MP wrote a letter on behalf of one of his constituents, just because that letter happend to be one that expresses the belief the constitutent, a convicted criminal, has reformed?

No I refuse to vote Liberal because I think the Green Shift is a boneheaded tax grab that transfers massive amounts of wealth from my home province of Saskatchewan to Ontario and Quebec. I am not sold on the Tories either, by the way. I can't vote NDP and I surely won't vote Green. Looks like it might have to be the Communist Party of they run a candidate in my riding.

I'm really amused at how quickly perenially have-not Saskatchewanians turned around and start shitting on Ontarians, who've never received transfer payments. As for Quebec, well...which party doled out a billion dollars to resolve a non-existent fiscal imbalance and screwed Saskatchewan out of 800 million?
How do you people live with yourselves? Are the barren prairies that alienating and hostile?

ReplyDeleteOh, my...
Whose side you on, grumpy?

There is an equivalency scale, and you don't have to be much holier than thou to be holier than thou.
ReplyDeleteLife's about tough choices, dude.

ReplyDeleteGee, you'd think that, in a complicated World, Grumpy would simplify things a bit: criminal conviction vs. absence of a criminal conviction.
ReplyDeleteWhy do The Dumb insist on commanding so much of our attention? Where in the Bible does it say "The retards will always be with you?"

ReplyDeleteOffice, writing a letter of recommendation for a criminal you personally think has repented is a far cry from having a criminal record yourself.
ReplyDeleteRight wing choads and their endless questions.
