"Mr. Dosanjh is still leading by 21 votes," explained Dosanjh's lawyer, Ravi Hira.
A change of one vote since all the kerfuffle broke out. Has democracy been served, or Conservative Conspiracy theories indulged because one their candidates was too dumb to know they had thrown in the towel already?
With 80% if the polls counted, Dumb is looking like a good bet.
Good to hear - & what a waste of time, money & energy. But at least we see democracy in action. ;)
ReplyDeleteLet's hope the counts show Dosanjh keeps his lead.
Whichever candidate you support, it's in everybody's interests that the process be clean and above-board. The Canada Elections Act does not permit partial recounts, ballot-sampling, etc. The judge should have been challenged, he was, and now a full recount--the only recount of valid ballots that the law allows--is taking place. If Dosanjh wins, so be it.
ReplyDeleteDawg, are you sure about this partial recounts thing? (I've read your excerpts from the act etc.) Pretty hard to imagine that this judge went rogue.
ReplyDeleteI can find nothing whatsoever in the Act that permits partial recounts. I'm prepared to stand corrected, but I have read everything Elections Canada has put out on this, and I believe I am correct.
