Imagine how these newspapers could improve their finances if they just got rid of the pundits and the Lifestyle and Sports sections. Sadly, they'll do the exact opposite; when they pare down, those elements will be the last ones to go.
Marcus Gee, Christie Blatchford, Norman Spector - maybe the Globe and a case of National Post disease. They've been off chasing NP readers so long that a lot of moderates just got fed up with them. Now they figure the answer is to crank up their prices by 50-cents a day, weekdays? That's a sure sign of troubles.
This is beginning to remind me of the Canadian Airlines/Air Canada showdown at the OK Corral. That ruined what had been two perfectly good airlines.
