At Least THIS Guy Isn't Subject To Uncontrollable Erections

John Mashey is the "Buckets" of the Climate Science end of the blogosphere, and he's been going through the Cato Institute's latest list of Climate Change deniers to root out the unknown loonies from the more familiar loonies that tend to appear on such lists on a weekly basis.

Among other things, he's found a Creationist:

Edward Blick, PhD, retired professor at U of Oklahoma (aerospace, mechanical, nuclear) who also has published books including:Scientific Analysis of Genesis (1991), and Correlation of the Bible and Science (1976) and Special Creation Vs. Evolution (1981).

Excellent work, John, though not quite on the level of Eli's research into James DeMeo who, when he is not saving the nation from drought by draining Orgone from the atmosphere, may be getting it on solo style while crouched inside one of Wilhem Reich's "sex boxes".

  1. Speaking of sex boxes, s-s-sexxy Ezra was on CBC Sunday just now. I held off throwing my mimosa at the teevee and endured through the segment. To my surprise, he actually behaved himself. Nothing I could detect as a lie, no libel, no racism and no juvenile tone or body language.

    I'm stunned.

more Inconvenient Truths . . . Mother Gaia's plants love us even more. Help a plant, idle your Hummer !

"Since 1750 the concentration in the air has risen from of CO2 278 parts per million (ppm) to more than 380 ppm, making it easier for plants to acquire the CO2 needed for rapid growth.

A study by the University of Leeds, published in the science journal Nature, measured the girth of 70,000 trees across 10 African countries and compared them with similar records made four decades ago.

On average, the trees were getting bigger faster and researchers found that each hectare of African forest was trapping an extra 0.6 tons of CO2 a year compared with the 1960s.

If this is replicated across the world's tropical rainforests they would be removing nearly 5 billion tons of CO2 a year from the atmosphere.

Scientists have been looking for a similar impact on crop yields and the experiments generally suggest that raised CO2 levels would boost the yields of mainstream crops, such as maize, rice and soy, by about 13 per cent.

Professor Martin Parry, head of plant science at Rothamsted Research, Britain's leading crop institute, said: "There is no doubt that the enrichment of the air with CO2 is increasing plant growth rates in many areas."

No, it was about Western Canadian perspectives on counter-cyclical spending. There were two sane people (only one I recognised) to balance him out.

He actually didn't say anything of consequence, which is a good move for him. Next step will be to shut the hell up altogether.

  5. Fred apparently doesn't know Liebig's Law of the Minimum, which farmkids learn by the time theyr'e 10. I certainly did.

Higher CO2 won't grow corn in the Sahara, no matter how badly certain people would wish it.

    Now, back on topic.

Capital Climate has a nice subset of CATO's list, and the Rabett Run thread mentioned earlier has more.

    In particular:

Edward Blick - is Creationist, has written several books on that.

Roy Spencer - is also a creationist.

Joel Kauffman has often written for the Journal of Scientific Exploration, a fringe science source. Even better, one of his Amazon book reviews says:

"As the talented physicist Viscount Christopher Monckton has said and written: "Have the courage to do nothing." Meaning that no economy-crushing action need be taken to limit CO2 because it will accomplish nothing."

And there's a good overall list Frank Bi's.

  6. "Roy Spencer - is also a creationist." - JM

Doubtful. That he believes in a Creator is all that is certain on the topic.

Besides, it is the new science coming out that warms a skeptic's cold heart. For example, in a recent NOAA study:

'Reanalysis of Historical Climate Data for Key Atmospheric Features'

    http://downloads.climatescience.gov/sap/sap1-3/sap1-3-final-all.pdf

the climate scientists state that much (if not most) of the warming in Western Canada is due to natural shifts in Pacific Ocean currents.

The second new study states that even if ocean temperatures around the Antarctic warmed an astronomical 5 degrees Celcius this century, the West Antarctic ice sheet won't melt too rapidy, taking anywhere from 1,000 to 3,000 years to melt enough to significantly raise sea levels.

    http://www.npr.org/templates/story/story.php?storyId=102066621

But even though the effects of warming may not unfold for thousands of years, to quote from the NPR article:

"Pollard says, "I'd say I feel more nervous."

    Go figure.

  7. Nope JM, those articles aren't clear enough.

Besides, I suspect warmers want to attach the 'creationist' label to Spencer to demonize him and thus exclude him from the AGW issue.

What warmers do no want to do is engage Spencer on the aspects of AGW science he is involved in.
