There's A New News Aggregater In Town

There's a new news aggregater in town. Its called CanadaNews Desk, and its got a nice look to it. Of course, whether it can compete successfully with NN or Bourque will depend on way more than the look. One strike in its favor: CND used one of my stories as a top story. Way to go, dude! Stick with BCL and I'll lead you to glory (as distinct from, for example, riches).

  1. Borque - a 404 could win over that one.

CanadaNewsDesk does have a good look to it, especially any links to BCL :)

  2. Bourque not Borque

  3. Wish the new site had a feed. That's also an issue I have with NN. Why don't these sites uses feeds, for crikey's sake?!

  4. No amount of aggregation is going to solve the "garbage in, garbage out" problem of news media. In fact, aggregation seems to be compounding the problem by giving the garbage the respectability of compost.

It does look much better than Dourque's Drugde knock-off site, however.

Are any of you Liberal bloggers drawing up a focused enemies list, by the way? MacLean's seems to be positioning itself to lead the forces of winguttery that the bankrupt (intellectually, morally and financially) CanWest is no longer able to mount. I read the latest issue of the rag yesterday and "the Stain" was ranting viciously and biliously about the Liberals. Time to bring that little fucker to his knees. Throw Coyne and Wells on the byre, for good measure.

The careers and reputations of the youngest and brightest of the neoconservatives must be destroyed so thoroughly that they won't even dare to resurface for the rest of their lives.

  5. I didnt see the story, BCL. Is it gone?

NN does refer to blogpieces at their site..From what I can see, this new one seems to only stick to traditional media.

  6. Ti-Guy - Macleans (Coyne/editor) is a conservative magazine and hey, they're sucking up for taxpayer funding that Coyne cries about. Hey, Mr. Coyne, we know magazines get funding from the government which makes you a hypocrite. Ya, don't let taxpayers fund anything except magazines, because funding parties elections is too democratic.

  7. Scott,

Was on yesterday. I've always liked the fact that NN goes with bloggers occasionally. I hope this guy continues the same route.

  8. Hey, Mr. Coyne, we know magazines get funding from the government which makes you a hypocrite.

He's already gone on record to say he opposes MacLean's PAP funding, so he's adequately acquitted himself and can therefore go on sucking up guilt-free a portion of the 10 million dollars Rogers gets a year for its irrelevant rags.

Ken Whyte is really the one who needs to be destroyed, however. I don't believe he's been sufficiently rehabilitated from his years as part of the Black entourage. As I've said previously, the Blacks spread moral imbecility to everyone who got near to them like hookers spread syphilis.

  9. "Are any of you Liberal bloggers drawing up a focused enemies list, by the way?"Sounds like you're perfectly suited for the job ti. Hop to it.

"the Stain" was ranting viciously and biliously about the Liberals. Time to bring that little fucker to his knees."Yeah, especially since the last attempt worked so well. :)

"Ken Whyte is really the one who needs to be destroyed, however."More of that trademark liberal tolerance for different opionions again. Can't get enough of it!

  10. For another excellent liberal example of how to treat others, just look at Ruby Dhalla.

"One caregiver, Magdalene Gordo, compared the post to slavery."And to think she was/is the Liberal's multicult spokesperson too!

  11. Heh. Conservatives bone their own once again.:

Two-thirds approval was required to trigger a battle, while an unreturned ballot was counted as a no under new rules adopted by the Conservative party's national council in March.

Good thing they like it deep, sans lube.

  12. Whoops - sorry Ti-Guy, I didn't realize Coyne was against funding for the magazine. Apologies.

Macleans is losing my respect - and, who wants to pay that much money to read partisanship.

  13. The topic is news aggregators so try and stay on topic folks.

    CanadaNews Desk
"Dhalla Resigns As Liberal's Multiculturalism & Youth Critic"NationalNewswatch
"MPP: 'Will you put Ruby Dhalla in jail?'"Bourque
"STORM ERUPTS OVER DHALLA'S SLAVEGATELovely press you're getting. :)

  14. Whoops - sorry Ti-Guy, I didn't realize Coyne was against funding for the magazine. ApologiesI don't believe he really is. He just says he is to be consistent.

MacLean's is a rag. A halfway house for indigent neoconservative moral imbeciles fleeing tanking publications elsewhere.

...with a couple of exceptions, namely Canada's best blogger, Kady O'Malley: the only mainstream journalist who uses the medium in a journalistically responsible way.
