A Trivial Pursuit...

When you visit the website of Michael Würstlin, the fella behind the CPoC's new ad/on-line campaign , you find a brief reference to the board-game Trivial Pursuit.

And indeed:

Eighteen-year-old artist, Michael Wurstlin agreed to create the final artwork for Trivial Pursuit in exchange for his five shares.

And suddenly I am reminded of something I read just yesterday:

"When you're down in the polls, when you're presiding over the worst collapse in employment in recent memory, when you've got record bankruptcies everywhere you look, the thing you're going to do if you're in government and responsible for this mess is change the channel and that's what they're trying to do," Ignatieff said in Toronto last night.

"Is that serious government? Is that serious politics? That's the kind of government we've got."

The Tories and Mr. Würstlin seem made for one another.

  1. Würstlin hasn't done a good thing in design and advertising since 1979. He embodies all that is wrong with Canadian advertising, boring, uninspired and unprincipled.

  2. Wurstlin didnt even do their own website. These guys did. http://www.greatorb.com/ This really gets to me. I worked in Soho for years and did rather well only to come home to Canada and have to work under untalented clowns like this? To paraphrase Doctor Zachary Smith: Indeed!

  3. Uh. Just a question.

For a man who wishes to be the next Prime Minister of this Country, do you believe that, in fact, the current government is "responsible for this mess"?

    Seriously?

A fairer comment might be, when you're in government in the midst of a global collapse that many Canadians look to you to fix, yadayadayada.. but, the suggestion that the current government is responsible for the collapse is, well, pretty stupid stuff.

Though - that being said, I would agree with the sentiment that government should be a little more concerned about, well, governing.

I think Harper would do much better if he attended to stearing the ship on a steady course - as we will come out of this recession and if so, the same notion of the public that he "caused the recession" will suddenly become "he solved the recession".

Both of which, obviously, are false.

  4. do you believe that, in fact, the current government is "responsible for this mess?"

I think you might be inferring more here than what was intended. The Harper government is "responsible for this mess" as it is currently unfolding because it *is* the Government.

    A fairer comment might be...

Uh huh. After three years of bad faith accusations and on the heels of a ridiculous, bad-faith attack ad campaign from the Reformatories, all of a sudden you're concerned about fair comment?

You really need to focus, Rob.

  5. Well, I guess Rob's only purpose is to show up and derail discussions with pointless nit-picking in an attempt to distract from the real issues. Which is what these attack ad campaigns are all about, basically.

I don't know how much longer the country can take these people ruining everything.
