  1. "Paternoster." Named after The Lord's Prayer ('Our Father').

    Riding "'round the top" is particularly scary, since the gear work involved in the whole thing passes about a foot from your face.

  2. Ah, I see your link to Wikipedia mentions that:

    In 1989, the paternoster in Newcastle University's Claremont Tower was taken out of service after a passenger undertaking an up-and-over journey became caught in the drive chain, necessitating a rescue by the Fire Service.
