Another Problem Solved?

Pierrefonds/Dollard's long-time federal Liberal MP Bernard Patry said any rumours about his not running again in the riding or being on the 'outs' with the Grits' Quebec-area lieutenant Denis Coderre should be taken with a grain of salt.

[...]

"He must not forget that I have received a letter from my leader, Michael Ignatieff, saying that I am a candidate," he added

I am also told that Ignatieff has endorsed Dion for St. Laurent, but cannot find any reference in either English or French language press.

This editorial should hurt the Liberals...

    Stéphane Dion deserves better

But even by those low standards of civility, recent efforts on the part of some important factions of the federal Liberal hierarchy to oust Stéphane Dion as the party's flag-bearer in St. Laurent are notably repellent.

Still, he deserves better than to have his back stabbed by the likes of Denis Coderre, a party apparatchik whose contributions to Canada are minimal compared with those of Dion. But Coderre apparently has the ear and the support of Liberal leader Michael Ignatieff, which greatly enhances his ability to make mischief in the ranks of the party's Quebec wing.

This is the kind of nastiness that gives party politics a bad name - and rightly so. For all his errors as leader, Dion has long been a stalwart defender of national unity. He rallied to the Liberal cause in the dark days following the 1995 referendum precisely to fight the very real threat of national dissolution. His three open letters to separatists demolished the arguments of those who would tear the country apart and his Clarity Act stiffened the spines of discouraged federalists and infuriated their foes.

  2. Ya right - listen to the media who totally put Dion down now? I don't think so.

CWTF wants it to hurt the Liberals.

There are conflicting reports out - Paul Wells says Cauchon got Outrement.

Hopefully, a press release or something will come out to clarify things.

I don't think that's it. CWTF is just consistently cranky.
