Head Tory Blogger: Guergis' Husband In Trouble, Let's Dump On Her

His wife is Helena Guergis, is the Minister of State for the Status of Women, and so assists Minister James Moore (Canadian Heritage). Given the seriousness of the charges, the distraction of dealing with the situation, and of course, the importance of avoiding any appearance of a conflict of interest anywhere near the cabinet table, I think careful consideration has to be given to relieving Guergis of any duties above and beyond that of an MP.

Kind of like when I stub my toe and yell at my wife. But the whole CPoC seems to have that mind set. Anyway, I wonder who they would replace her with? Maybe Brad Trost is ready for the big-time.

  1. Under normal circumstances one would say he's a big boy and what he does and the decisions he makes (good or bad) are his own. But this is politics and perception is reality - especially with this crowd of ex-CRAPpers. So this will stick to Guergis whether deserved or not.

The smart thing would be for her to remove herself and get herself out of the spotlight for a while. Second best would be for Harper to
remove her. Of course it's unlikely that either will occur, but I have been wrong before. We'll see.

  2. It seems to me that the sins of the husband seem a lot more harmful to a woman than the sins of the wife would be to a man. Is anyone else picking up that "vibe"?

  5. good point ti-guy. Can she claim she didn't know? Highly doubtful. Most would know if their husband was drunk and driving and or ancy , figidy and unable to sleep.

If not, why was nothing done about his issues? Is this a Whitney Houston - Bobby Brown type thing? Maybe this is how they celebrate all the sexiness in their jobs.

To be fair, how many other MP's do you think are doing the same thing?

  6. For heaven's sake, if the premier of BC didn't step down why on earth should the spouse of a a drunk?

Jaffer's an unstable asshole of long standing. If people associated with him should step down, that list starts with Stephen Harper.
