How Bad Is It At CanWest?

They're renting space to CBC. One rumor is that, in the episode being filmed, Erica travels backwards in time to when the National Post didn't suck. But that would be, like, a journey to NoWhen.

It is so bad at CanWest that its flagship newspaper seemiglymay haveen engaged in what appears to be the worst kind of censorship. I am not exactly sure why this has happened perhaps others can figure it out.

    Warren Kinsella has the story.

  2. ..but, thankfully for her, Erica then returns back to the present where women are respected as capable equals.

Well, except by a certain candidate for PM of Canada, who thinks women have to have "safe" seats reserved for them at the expense of allowing men to run in same seat. Even former Liberal Justice Minister men.

  3. Two words, Roblaw: Lisa Raitt.

  4. Yow, thanks for the Kinsella link Sue. I remember that story well and Kinsella is right I tried to Google it; is gone, can't even find it in the Google cache!!

    Two possible explanations:

    1. Ezra threatened to sue the National Post

    2. The National Post didn't want to continue to be embarrassed that one of its regular columnists, Ezra Levant, was identified by the very honest and astute academic Professor Richard Moon, a man whose integrity is unassailable, that Levant is a person who "makes things up". Not exactly a great accolade for a journalist.

    Either way it smells bad.

Don't you think you should save this earthy, loamy, pungent Tory Talking Point for a discussion where it might actually be on-topic?

  6. True enough, BCL, I'm not going to defend any party who hand-picks their nominees, ignoring the democratic process (how did Michael become the leader again?)..

But, at least Raitt was a living, breathing, ACTUAL woman, as compared to the "Potential Woman" that is apparently the new nominee in Outremont.

Oh, and btw, regarding the recent Spinsella post, well, I suppose he's doing his best damage control, doing the "three card monte" dance of misdirection, by bringing up a post from 7 months ago, and giving up on searching for his "source weasel" in the Liberal party he can "chainsaw his political ambitions" after daring to state the obvious, that the emperor is wearing no clothes (relative to his "giving us nothing" to quote the Liberal weasel).

  7. Sense of Humour: Hi Ti-Guy, I'm sure we've never met, I'm a sense of humour.

To help you along the apparently (for you) difficult course of relevance and irony.. uh, Erica, a character in a CBC comedy series, deals with current life stresses by going back in time to her past.

Hence BCL's initial post, and, admittedly, witty reference to NP present and NP past..

    Following so far?

Ok. So, then, me (getting the joke from BCL) says, figuratively, "But BCL, what happens when Erica gets back to the present and finds that it's, in some respects, not any better than the past for respect for women as equals?".

    *rim shot*

    badumpa.

    Thank-you, you've been great.. goodnight!

  8. So Rob, you won't defend any party, "who hand-picks their nominees, ignoring the democratic process."

And then you go on to defend the Cons decision to hand-pick and ignore the democratic party in the case of Ms. Raitt:

"But, at least Raitt was a living, breathing, ACTUAL woman, as compared to the "Potential Woman" that is apparently the new nominee in Outremont."

Nice. So what are your feelings about the nomination process in Rob Anders constituency?

I want to see an episode where Erika travels back in time and bitch-slaps a writer she encounters who drones on about delusions of being published under the byline Several Tons of Fury. In doing so, Erika gains insight that she really can recognize hateful stupidity when it crosses her path, lessons that will server her well when she travels back to the present and realizes how much pull the deranged one now has with the reworked CRAP party.

You segued from the topic of crappy news media, a subject that should unite us all, to make a point that divides us all.

Pointless division is never funny, you Albertan blowhard.

  11. The most interesting news on this thread was the National Post's attempt to hide an article that was rightly critical of Levant. Thanks to Sue for the Kinsella link.

This is a pretty egregious example of a newspaper censoring information. Exactly what Ezra and the NP rail agaiinst whenever they are able.
