Cheap Shots On Remembrance Day

A couple of days ago, Prime Minister Stephen Harper spoke at a ceremony to commemorate the fall of the Berlin Wall, that symbol of communist tyranny.

And that makes me wonder why tomorrow, some Conservative MPs will be at another ceremony commemorating a man who fought for communist tyranny.

"The man" is, of course, Norman Bethune. Stay classy, Gerry Nicholls.

  2. Speak for yourself, Albertard.

    Altogether now:

  4. Norman Bethune fought the fascists in Spain and was helping the Chinese to fight the Japanese. He also invented the first mobile blood transfusion clinics that helped save solder's lives on the battlefield - and were the model for the MASH units.

If you don't like his politics, fine. But Nicholls goes too far, as do you. Sweek. He does deserve to be honoured.

  6. Ok, Scott. But one last question for you:

Would you honour him if he was a Nazi who had the same medical accomplishments?

You are who you keep company with and Bethune aligned himself with members of a political philosophy that ultimately killed millions of people.

Jesus was your basic proto-communist. How many people in history have aligned themselves with his "party"?
