Andrew Coyne is appalled, and his pain gives me wings. From the LPoC website, word of an International Round Table on trade being held in the runup to the Canada at 150 thinkfest.
Featuring an impressive list of distinguished speakers and presenters, this day-long conference will address the important trade relationships between Canada and the United States, China, and India as well as free trade negotiations with the European Union. Former Prime Minister Joe Clark and Canadian Council on Africa President Lucien Bradet will also co-host a special discussion on trade with Africa.
How about Joe Clark for Keith Martin? That would be a decent swap.
I've come to the realisation in the last few weeks that Andrew Coyne isn't terribly bright. And I don't mean that to be churlish; he's just not that intelligent.
ReplyDeleteI've come to the conclusion that Coyne is terribly afraid that just discussing things (which he actually used to be pretty good at) just isn't enough in the brave new media world. So he chooses random things to be enraged about each week. Does he Twitter yet? I'm sure he will soon, texting his outrage in 30 words or less. His blog entries are just practice.
ReplyDeleteI think he watches too much US News;unfortunately he's not the only Canadian talking head that does. Even more unfortunate, so do his bosses.
He rarely even comments on US news. WTF are you talking about?
ReplyDeleteAnd since when are blogs ever intelligent? He saves his insightful shit for his actual articles.
Masters in Economics.
ReplyDeleteNeed I say more?
What's he outraged about? And why's he pretending to be surprised. Clark has made it abundantly clear from the "merger" that he does not in any way shape or form support the Conservative Party.
ReplyDeleteIn the 2004 election Clark campaigned for Scott Brison and endorsed Ed Broadbent.
Although he isn't a member or public supporter of any party, he is most definitely a public opponent of the Conservatives.
Coyne living in the past? Can't a former politician speak for a cause and leave politics out of it? Have we sunk that low?
ReplyDeleteGee Rage,
ReplyDeleteI didn't say he "comments" on US News. I said he "watches" it too much. Consult a dictionary.
So, using cyber hand-signals, the implication is that he is "emulating" the news media down south. Feel free to consult the dictionary on that, as well.
Oh, and "down south" is my personal slang for the US. You won't find that in the aforementioned dictionary.
Glad I could help. In the future, you might try to STFU and think for a second before you go into a rage demanding WTF of random strangers.

ReplyDeleteThat'll be the day. I don't care if he rants at me because I've given him enough reasons over the years to develop an abiding hatred of me, but he does that to everyone. Especially people who DARE to venture an incomplete thought.
I think he ends up in rehab somewhere periodically.
”Although he isn't a member or public supporter of any party, he is most definitely a public opponent of the Conservatives.”
ReplyDeleteNo!
Clark is just an opponent of the CPC.
As am I.
We are people who still believe in toryism / Disraeli-Conservatism, and who detest the populist windbags with their neo-liberal economic policies who’ve hijacked the conservative movement in this country.
I admit it’s difficult to understand his support of Broadbent that year. Maybe because it was too problematic for an old tory like him to vote for the grits …I understand the feeling.
