An update to Shaidle's adventures in the holy land: the gal next to Shaidle on the El Al flight to Israel, (a picture now gone even from the google cache), and referred to as "Sabertooth", was Sara Saber-Freedman, the CIC's Montreal EVP. And, as I say, I have been told that the CIC was NOT an official sponsor of Five Foot's tour. And yet Shaidle's hubby made a special effort to have that picture (of a CIC staffer!) disappeared. Go figure.
Note: this guy says the trip was planned "semi-secretly".
If I don't read one report soon on how lousy the food is in Israel, I'll have to conclude that these people are biased and/or completely insensate.
ReplyDeleteI mean, grape leaves (dolmas) that squirt white oily pus that defies recognition when you bite into them? Breakfast buffets with bowls and bowls of unidentifiable sauces under a 1-inch layer of olive oil? Falafels with French fries at the bottom? Spaghetti with potatoes?
Why would such a trip be "semi-secret?" The CIC does these goodwill tours all the time. Last yeat they guaranteed me an all-expenses-paid trip; and Impolitical was offered one this coming May, which she declined.
ReplyDeleteThere's really nothing to see here. Just a well-managed eight-day bridge-building effort.
There's really nothing to see here...
ReplyDelete...apart from sending two of the most notorious bigots/racists and anti-Arab/anti-Muslim hate-mongers in Canada, that is.
Well, there is that.
