Almost all of the other G20 nations were struggling and none have pulled themselves out as well as Canada has. We can debate over the reasons for Canada’s success but this is definitely the time to host this meeting. By showing off Canada and its success, we draw attention and investment far beyond what the Olympics could ever do.
ridenrain - Harper is such an ingrate. He didn't even have the statesmanship to thank the Liberals for our banking system (which he fought against), he didn't thank the Bank of Canada for their role in our economic situation and he didn't thank the opposition parties for forcing him to do something.
If only the billion bucks was being used to spruce things up.
Sadly, it is because of Toronto's international reputation for being soft on terrorists and terrorism that security services for leaders in the G20 have demanded such extreme securtiy precautions in Toronto.
(I'm betting this post gets deleted like my other one. Oh well, have to keep speaking truth to power. ;) )
Considering how the opposition-coalition were howling for stimulus and bail-outs, it's doubtful our success would be as strong under their dubious leadership. Considering how BC and the west are leading the nation in recovery, they should hold the meeting in someplace like Northern BC community. Snotty foreigners can see how unpretentious we are and the money goes to people who deserve it. It's a waste of time trying to clean up a dump like Toronto anyways.
I don't think I need to remind anybody that the people leading the way out of recession are also the provinces that were less likely to vote in Liberals. That was obvious to me but it might be a frightening news flash to the Ontario oligarchy.

This begs the question, if Toronto is such a dump and such a security problem, why pick Toronto?
Ah, because Muskoka would have been overwhelmed... then why pick Muskoka in the first place? (Could it be because it is Tony Clement's riding?)
"I don't think I need to remind anybody that the people leading the way out of recession are also the provinces that were less likely to vote in Liberals. "
No you don't need to remind us you need to prove your point.
More hot air from your pretentious hole I guess. Do you live in a fictional world Ridenrain?
With the kid-glove treatment of the Toronto 18, and even public support for them, I can just imagine Obama's security teams response when they heard meetings would be held in Toronto.
Add to that Liberal and NDP public support for the now defeated, but still dangerous Tamil Tigers, I'm surprised security costs are only a billion.
The kind of diversity and tolerance Toronto and area practises is dangerous to peoples lives.
Because of this, Canadians must all bear the excessive cost of protecting these world leaders.

ReplyDeleteGeez Ridenrain that's not a point just some bootlicking on your part.
ReplyDeleteWeak as always. What language is Ridenrain the word for straw man?

Ridenrain are you trying for Stupidest Canadian in 2010 because you're leading by a longshot.
ReplyDeleteMore Canadians live in cities than in isolated small communities so what Canada are you talking about?
Pretentiousness exists in small towns too. You're pretentious so the point is proven.

ReplyDeleteDid I just read that correctly?
!!!!!!!!!!
Did I just read that correctly?
ReplyDeleteYes, yes you did.
As for tolerance and diversity being dangerous... Toronto has a low crime rate.
Truth would be painful if you actually spoke it Paul. Instead we get your fear driven racist ramblings.

Pointing out your stupidity is becoming far too easy Ridenrain. Do you ever read newspapers? Do you pay attention to what goes on outside your hamlet?
Cripes, how are you legally able to drive a car with that addled brain?
