It's pronounced (likely anglified) Kwaykway. What's the big deal? That's what the FN people said used to be in that area, so it's just coming full circle? Plus, the article says it wouldn't dump Stanley's part of it, just add to it. It'll become a local "in" code name for the park.
X is used in a few different pronunciations in Aboriginal languages. If you want to get sniffy with anyone, pick on the effort to overcomplicate use of Roman alphabet to figure out non-English words.
