Conservative Senator Larry Smith De-Boards The Gravy Train

The outgoing CEO of the Montreal Alouettes said he was not trying to sound arrogant but that he was making a major concession in his lifestyle to become a senator.

"In simple terms, the money I was earning in my last profession to where I would be in this profession is what I would call a dramatic, catastrophic pay cut," he said.

This guy won't be around for long. I suspect pandering to Der Volk will take a real mental toll. Wait until he realizes that the coffee at Tim's taste like shit.

  2. Double "F" Tims... Non-Canadian-owned crap-pot that it is... I will continue to brew my own fair trade espresso for pennies compared to Tim's over-commercialized crap. Starbucks isn't any better - unless you enjoy over-roasted, over-bitter, over-commercialized joe...

Not a "coffee nazi" here, but I do know you can enjoy some of the best, smoothest, and most delicious brews in the world for pennies - from your own home barista...

    Time to grab a cuppa...

  3. McDonald's "Premium" coffee is scads better than Tim's or Starbucks anyday, by the way... I'm sure a lot of regular joe drinkers out there will agree...

  4. Why the hostility, Larry has deep roots in this riding. He is also a long shot?

Is Larry is taking a 20-40% pay cut to sit in the Senate for up to one year? Larry has agreed to dump this "cushy" appointment to fight an election in a Liberal safe seat to add legitimacy to his record of public service.

Sounds like more sour grapes because his is another star candidate vying for the other team.

  5. Well, well, well, look who's sounding like the 'elitist' now? Mr. "I'm taking a catastrophic Pay cut"?

Going down from one 6 figure salary to another. So, he'll have to make his own coffee & sell one of his sports cars or something like that. Boo hoo!

Up bright and early, I see, Canadian Nonsense. Go back to bed now while the rest of us get ready to go to work.

Even longer now that he's shown himself to be an elitist twit. Suck it up Patsy, that riding ain't going CPC any time soon.

  7. Why are so many Liberal knickers in a knot?

I remember the drama over Rob Ford, Julian Fantino and now this.

You guys need to stop repeating the same pattern.

Focus on why your guy should keep his job and if your party still matters.

As I said 11,000 in 2008 is considered a safe riding. Bob Layton was the last Conservative to hold the riding during the Mulroney era.

Think positive. Be happy, it almost Christmas.

No campaign, house won't return until Feb-March. You guys have months to raise money, award steaks and hockey tickets to find volunteers.

I am confident Charest Liberals might be helpful. Heck I would ask the NDP or Bloc for help as members of the coalition.

  8. Sorry what drama? Please explain.

We're laughing at Larry Smith. Trying to make unemployed and struggling Canadians feel sorry for him that he's taken a 'catastrophic paycut' to only 130K + perks. Oh boo-hoo!

You Reformers used to be all over these elitists back in the 90's. Smith's almost as big a joke as you CS.
