Climate Scientists Get Their War Room

I, among many others, suggested this kind of thing last year: a rapid response unit made up of specialists in the various climate science sub-disciplines who would be on call to answer media inquiries, debunk erroneous claims from denialists, and so forth. As of a couple of months ago (I am a bit late to this story) the Climate Science Rapid Response Matchmakers (CSRRT) opened for business:

The CSRRT is a match-making service between top scientists and members of the media and office holders and their staffs from various levels of government.

The group of climate scientists who are members of the Climate Science Rapid Response Team have been chosen to cover almost all the diverse areas of Climate Science. They have been selected for their expertise based upon their extensive original research as evidenced by their publications in professional peer-reviewed scientific journals. The group is committed to providing rapid, high-quality information to media and government officials.

I would encourage any media types who might occasionally read this blog to, if you are writing on AGW, give the service a try, if only to get beyond the small circle of talking heads who tend to get quoted over and over again whenever the topic comes up.

  1. That's as close to an admission of failure from these people as we're ever going to get, I suppose. It reeks of both desperation and denial...and in this case, the denial is of the fact that it is *they* who are now the amusingly named 'deniers'.

Give it up, guys. The always-tenuous theory of AGW is officially dead now (if you couldn't figure that out from the monthly revelations about deceptions, inaccuracies and outright falsification of data, you don't deserve to call yourselves 'scientists', do you?) and no amount of spin-doctoring is going to change that, sorry. Go get real jobs.

  2. This does smack of desperation.

We've been pummelled for 15 years by most of the media over the dire threat AGW poses, yet the public, via the democratic process, will vote out any party who attempts to implement a radical AGW plan.

Instead of a rapid response unit, I suggest starting a travelling Q and A panel that visits cities and towns across Canada. With no Greenpeace nutters or NGO kooks in tow either.

Until the AGW advocates openly and politely accept questions and scrutiny from the public, they have no chance of winning the public over. Calling everyone they disagree with a denier has been a disastrous strategy.

Ooh, in comes the Climate Bullshit Rapid Response Team.

"yet the public, via the democratic process,"

Paul S, you mean "the public" as in the Koch family, and "democratic process" as in "one dollar, one ad"?

  4. I mean as in the vote Frank.

You lose every time. Unable to accept defeat, the left reverts to magical and paranoid thinking.

This magical and paranoid thinking helps to ensure future democratic losses, so all I can say is KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!!!

  5. I took a closer look at the CSRRT. They've got three guys total. It's not a war room, it's a broom closet.

  6. Dear dishonest Paul Stupid; there are three matchmakers who "will immediately forward the inquiry to those scientists with the most appropriate expertise."

Sorry to have to explain it when anyone can go to the website BCL linked to and see for themselves, but when Paul tells lies, he needs to be revealed as a liar.
