Rob Ford extends his bowl. Read through to the end and you'll see that the provincial government isn't taking these requests too seriously. And I don't expect, no matter who winds up in the Premier's chair this November, that
any one's going to willing to fork out to T.O. That's what you get when you start your mayoral term with all of your bridges already in flames behind you.
Every Canadian major city Mayor has asked Provincial governments for extra money. They do it every year. I know, I know . . . but he said, etc. For that kind of logic just go back and read The Liberal Red Book. It's full of just such kind of examples. It seems you were one of the few who would have been happy with the pork barreling Toronto had for years. But guess what, you lost. Time to move on. Nothing to see here.
ReplyDeleteDon't you fucking tools ever get tired of the "Yeah, but the Liberals", shtick? Time to move on indeed.
ReplyDeleteBut you Liberals seem to be on this moral high ground that only Conservatives don't follow through with every single thing they say. Besides, rather than slamming me, lets take a closer look at this post.
ReplyDeleteLiberals would sooner have Toronto go to hell in a hand basket rather than have a right winged politician change things for the better. Listen, you guys had enough years in office to screw things up royally. Now it's Ford's turn. Then again, if you want to go back to the garbage strike days, be my guest.
How is asking the people of Ont. to hand over $150,000,000 after refusing to increase the local T.O. property tax doing the right thing?
ReplyDeletePS. Next garbage strike is next year.
Are the Provincial Liberals writing of Toronto?
ReplyDeleteWhat specifically did the Mayor request that qualifies as "gravy" for the Liberals?
The bulk appears road and subway matters. Not climate change office in Europe or retirement bonuses for retiring Liberal candidates.
This will be fun watching the provincial Liberals in their campaign attack Rob Ford. Ignatieff did praise Ford campaign and voters after he won?
I am curious if Liberals still believe Rob Ford needs them more?
CS, You ascribe to Rob Ford magical powers he does not have. In any case, this is still asking the province to kick in money that the city refuses to raise for itself. Go ask Hudak how much he's willing to put up if he gets in. I bet the answer is not much.
ReplyDeleteBCL,
ReplyDeleteI don't think Rob has any magical powers.
The voters crushed the Liberal-MSM campaign in 8 minutes. He secured the most votes in history?
Rob does not face re-election this October. The Provincial and Federal Liberals have been critical of Rob Ford in the last few weeks?
Please provide a link of a named senior Liberal castigating Rob Ford.
The article has Dalton has publicly welcomed cooperation with Ford on issues
the TSTAR refused to name the snarky
"senior Ontario Liberals" any idea why they won't allow their names to be published?
"But you Liberals seem to be on this moral high ground that only Conservatives don't follow through with every single thing they say."
ReplyDeleteFrom a guy who cites the Red Book. Hypocritical much?
Tokw,
ReplyDeleteToo much caffeine today?
Are you suggesting the Provincial Liberals stick it to the Toronto taxpayers because they rejected the Liberal candidate for Mayor?
What exactly in the $ 150 million ask is gravy?
I have been clear the Mayor is in the driver's seat and can hurt the Liberals in their upcoming election if they get ham fisted.
No I'm suggesting - nay I'm openly stating as fact - that Ford and you are hypocrites. Neither of you are any better than that NDP automaton mayor that TO used to have.
ReplyDeleteFord criticized David Miller for asking for bailouts from the Ontario government, and I happen to agree with Rob Ford on that. Toronto should get it's own fiscal house under control first, again Ford's right on that too.
Why doesn't Ford start doing what he said he would do? Cut the spending!!!
PS - I'm a PCPO supporter dipshit, Elizabeth Witmer is my MPP. I don't like Hudak much, but I'm happy to vote for her.
The example you gave is not the same.
ReplyDeleteMiller did not cut spending, he raised taxes. Ford is working on his first budget. Apple to oranges.
Toronto will work with Queens Park and Ottawa today and tomorrow. Read the article and the actual items.
Where is the gravy?

Miller asked for Ontario taxpayer's money, and Ford is asking for Ontario taxpayer's money. Result is the same.

No and apparently Ford isn't cutting spending either, in fact he's increasing spending ...but he lowered taxes. That makes him even more incompetent than the last major. That's like maxing out your VISA after you quit a good job to work as a Wal-Mart greeter.

Exactly. Now do you understand why partisan party politics should never infect the municipal level?

That's not my job to figure out. Ford's the major and it's his job to balance the budget. Let him stop the gravy train!
Oops, I meant Ford's the mayor.
ReplyDeleteToKW,
ReplyDeleteSo far no Liberal is able to explain where the gravy is from the $ 150 million.
Daycare, buses and roads ( Anyone talk to Ignatieff lately?)
You may have missed it but Toronto did not raise property taxes first time in 11 years.
The next budget I believe they will need to find $500 million?
I will give them time. Dalton has decided Toronto votes don't matter and he has decided to tackle his deficit. (This should be fun)
