Thanks BigCitLib, but your link has piqued my curiosity. It shows a picture of the candidate with Coderre. Was Coderre still lieutenant in QC when this candidate was chosen?
I mostly understand that the LPC has to be as centralised as the CPofC. No more Quebec lieutenant. La section Québec devrait être mise en tutelle ! It's the party - point à la ligne.
Actually, Manicougan was a contested riding. Dale explains more below. Another candidate, a parachute, it would appear, named Charles Dufour ran against Forbes for the nom.
Had he signed up for a Conservative event, they would have had him vetted in minutes!
Yeah, but would they have given him the boot? With people like Rob Anders (famous for calling Nelson Mandela's a terrorist) and Lee Richardson (Calgary MP who blamed an increase in crime on immigrants ), would Forbes have stood out from the crowd?

This does put an interesting spin on the situation. Sometimes it's good to know who's responsible. Thanks xtra. :)
At least he turfed him and did it swiftly on evidence.
There are a lot of 'blue' Liberals out there and some of them are elected members. I wouldn't doubt there are racist sentiments lurking even in the NDP, given that my own weirdass lefty relatives can blurt out jaw dropping Aboriginal/POC prejudice.
Call it cynical underbussing, or call it sincere turfing of someone who *doesn't* fit into the big red tent, but Ignatieff's message is "I say homey don't play that" and everyone around him heard it loud and clear. It's a line in the sand and he'll be held publically to any future stupidity done by any of his colleagues in the tent.
Now, if only anyone held Harper to anything he or his colleagues say/do.
Imagine Ignatieff yammering on about it being staffers, or the PCO, or whatever flavour of SEP field Harper's using this 24 hour cycle (Someone Else's Problem -- the radius of this field is apparently as far as it takes to keep reporters distant) and waiting for things to go away or some minor staffer to fall on a sword.

Figure it out.
