...just like Members, but they don't pay anything. And right after I pitched out $20 for Membership. Won't bother with that nonsense ever again.
PS. Comments against this motion were running 2 to 1 against LPoC website, so this 70 per cent in favour surprises me.
I feel like those guys in the band "The Tea Party" who are now being pestered to sell their name to some fringe fascist outfit out of the States.
ReplyDeleteFor a blog that is mainly used as an id, and where I might post a couple of times a year, my stats are going through the roof!
I don't understand the point though. I am "Liberal Supporter" because I wish to remain anonymous and not be attacked in various ways in real life for my political views.
Doesn't this LPC "Liberal Supporter" still result in one being registered? Is it more or less a $0 membership? Just as the CRAP wants to get rid of gun registration records because they fear them being used to confiscate guns, I don't want to be registered politically because I fear such a list being used to confiscate me.
Out of 3200 delegates, only 1744 attended the most important vote (giving supporters right to vote for leader), with less members in subsequent votes.
ReplyDeleteIt's not a strong argument either way, members don't even show up to vote.
I am a life long Liberal and member for years, but all I could think of was Harper's infiltrators, and how are the Liberals going to make money with no fees?
ReplyDeleteLOL..... blame Harper

ReplyDeleteI'm Conservative and I'm voting for Rae as leader of the Liberals.
ReplyDeleteI think it is excellent for the Liberal party to spring into the modern age.
ReplyDeleteThey say only a third of Liberal Party members donate to the Party. I guess when some are concerned about others not spending 10 bucks we can see why the Liberals have such a hard time raising cash - their "supporters" are just too cheap and don't even want to cough up $10 bucks for a membership if they can get a limited "membership" for free.
ReplyDeletedoesn't make sense to me
ReplyDeleteAt least the Alberta PCs are smart enough to make supporters of other parties pay a token fee to highjack their leadership races.
ReplyDeletePoor bocanut, he'd do anything for a date. Guess plentyoffish didn't work out for you
ReplyDeleteI was about to comment that this policy will be exploited by conservatives' utter lack of shame and willingness to do anthing that isn't explicitly proscribed by law, but I see that bocanut beat me to it.
ReplyDeleteSo asking people to take an oath will not prevent jerks from hijacking the vote ... who'd have thunk it.
ReplyDeleteWell, I voted against it.
Supporters don't get the opportunity to vote on candidates for MP. So, there's that.
