NRA Calls On U.S. Government To Expand Federal Workforce By 100,000!
That's about how many public schools there are in America with, according to NRA EVP Wayne LaPierre, an armed guard in each one. That's about $4,000,000,000 peer year. I thought this LaPierre guy was supposed to be a conservative.
What he forgot to say is while employing hundreds of thousands of armed guards at schools is not inconsistent with also imposing tougher gun laws, the NRA believes that more guns will be needed to insure that these new minted armed guards do not step out of line.
It should be pointed out the Columbine did have an armed guard and the mother of guilty was well armed.
He also wants a national database of all "mentally ill" people. Presumably that can be job for the a newly created department of homeland right-thinking.
Just seems highly suspect that almost overnight everyone has this "great ideas" from NRA to Obama and everything in between. I'm not so sure anyone should be patted on the back for saying, "We don't need more studies". I think that's exactly what they need.. But not the partisan fueled congressional hearing type "study", but actually gathering some well respected (non-political) experts to really grapple with the problem of mass killing.
Keep in mind Timothy McVeigh didn't fire a single shot and killed 168 people.
My biggest question: Why are so many of these killers middle-class young white males?
Well the NRA thinks that would be "education dollars" well spent & would not advocate increasing the overall education pie, which is shrinking.
ReplyDeleteThey don't give a rat's butt about education, just guns, guns, guns!

Answers?
Please refresh my memory: was this the Liberal consensus when Bill Clinton proposed the same thing 12 years ago?
