The President's Climate Action Plan

From the fact sheet:

We have a moral obligation to leave our children a planet that’s not polluted or damaged, and by taking an all of-the-above approach to develop homegrown energy and steady, responsible steps to cut carbon pollution, we can protect our kids’ health and begin to slow the effects of climate change so we leave a cleaner, more stable environment for future generations. Building on efforts underway in states and communities across the country, the President’s plan cuts carbon pollution that causes climate change and threatens public health. Today, we have limits in place for arsenic, mercury and lead, but we let power plants release as much carbon pollution as they want – pollution that is contributing to higher rates of asthma attacks and more frequent and severe floods and heat waves.

The whole plan can be found here.

The most important initiative is that the President will call for the EPA to set new carbon emissions limits for NEW and EXISTING power plants.  The new limits will go into effect in 2015.  There will also be a call for stricter building codes at home and seven billion for emerging economies so they might prepare for whatever effects AGW brings down upon them. The "all-of the above" approach mentioned also puts a lot of attention of developing U.S. natural gas reserves as a "bridge fuel' to renewables.  So there's continued fracking in that country's future.  Nothing in the plan requires congressional approval.  And, incidentally, there's nothing about Keystone XL at all in the document.

  3. Address the charts, not the author. These are from sources even those on Desmog blog and Skeptical Science cite. My blog Quixotes Last Stand was even threatened to be put on Desmog blogs "Hit List"
    Charming bunch.
It's over, enjoy your life now instead of trying to scare the bejeezus out of everyone.

  4. That the graphs are from John Christy is usually a good sign that they've been bunged up or fiddled with.

  5. I expect that Keystone XL is going to be kept on the side burner until closer to the next election.

  6. The chart fiddlers are charletons such as Gore, Hansen, McKibbon, Mann and their fellow travellers. They have no sound science to support their outlandish predictions so resort to scaremongering to keep the money rolling in.

  7. The real money ain't in legitimate climate research.

It's in denying legitimate climate research.

When it's the same people claiming climate change is a lie who also claimed evidence that smoking contributed to cancer was a lie, there are a few red flags that should be raised as a result.

  8. We're talking about global warming , not climate change. Big difference. Anyway, I don't recall Dr R Lindzen, Dr. T Ball, Dr. R Spencer, Dr J Curry etc. etc. taking any Big Tobacco money or from Big Oil or Koch bros. or anymore of the usual bogeymen you love to trot out. You do have the cancelled cheques to back-up your assertion, right? Anyway, even back in 1943, Walt Disney had you guys pegged;

  10. "We're talking about global warming , not climate change. Big difference."

Uhm, no. Climate change is what people with a background in science talk about when explaining the increasingly extreme weather events the which are a result of a global rise in temperature. So no, they are one in the same.

    Regarding funding:

Finally, if you are going to use uncle Walt here, I might offer a more accurate comparison:

  11. It's called moving the goal posts when the global temps aren't cooperating and now it has to be called something else.
    During Grover Clevelands presidency
the U.S. was hit with 26 hurricanes. So far Obama's presidency has 3. It's nothing more than desperation by those who stand to profit most with this ridiculous war on plant food.
