"He's kind of really talking about efficiency, how do you get things done and get them done quickly. Sometimes an overly participatory democratic process becomes messy and delays you from taking action that is necessary," said the University of Ottawa history professor, adding that Trudeau's reference to Harper could have been a dig at the prime minister's "strong man" style of politics.

No... Terry Glavin nails it;

Terry Glavins a right-wing schlock artist who 20 years ago lost all credibility trolling the vancouver journalism programs for the "latest young journo starlet". He supposedly fell off the lefty bandwagon behind patrick moore but hasn't figured out who he wants to sell out to, only surprising that anyone gives him a platform to put his cialis-induced rants to paper. What a joke.
ReplyDeleteYes, of course absolutism is ruthlessly efficient in pursuit of its objectives if it does not have to concern itself with the wishes and preferences of those governed, nor waste time seeking to argue its case and govern by persuasion, but simply terrorize and steamroller any opposition or dissident views. Democracy is messy and inefficient by comparison. Spin it any way you want, Trudeau is expressing admiration for the ruthless efficiency of absolute rule by China's newly-minted capitalist rulers, not burdened with the restrictions of seeking democratic consent for their policies.
ReplyDeleteNotwithstanding Trudeau's foolish admiration for the efficiency of absolutism in political or economic decision-making, the Conservatives have likewise demonstrated similar confusion, as on the occasion the Conservative Party sent anniversary greetings to the Communist Party of China. While the Conservatives can hardly be accused of theoretical or sociological ambitions or curiosity with respect to the world they inhabit, they do recognize kindred spirits and appreciate the Chinese for their ruthless ambition and exploitation of their workforce....
rockfish- I could insert PET's lead cheerleader M Behiels into your rant and reverse the political spectrum. He's only defending Baby Doc Trudeau and doing his best spin. That's all low hanging fruit. Refute Glavins points please.
