You Must Be Kidding Me?

Stephen Taylor writes:

Hedy Fry believes that there should be a special clinic on Parliament Hill to vaccinate Members of Parliament and staff. Meanwhile, most people in Ottawa will have wait as the first two weeks of vaccinations are rationed for those of us that need it now such as those with respiratory conditions, young children and pregnant women, among others with special needs.

This isn't worth commenting on, really, except that Bourque has picked it up seems to be humping it as a scandal setting elitist Libs. against der volk that drink their coffee at Tim Horton's. But let's try Reason, shall we?

In the midst of a pandemic of as yet unknown severity, one thing that you would think you would want to work smoothly would be your national government, wouldn't it? And since that in our case is a parliamentary democracy, said government would encompass MPs and their staff, wouldn't it? Since health care professionals are calling for a spike in workplace absenteeism as the 2nd wave of H1N1 kicks in, wouldn't you want to take precautions to avoid a situation where...oh I don't know...the government falls by accident because too many legislators are at home puking, or legislation deleterious to the well being of the nation gets passed?

I would hope so. I mean, the phrase "making government work" keeps echoing through my head. Dunno who said that first.

PS. Taylor: Discus sucks. It sucks especially as I keep getting junk mail representing comments from the goobers that normally comment at your blog even though it appears you have deep 6ed my own comment. Can you please make this stop?

Did you subscribe to the comments?

Anyway, to borrow a quote from one of Taylor's commenters: "Stephen Taylor: On crack as usual."

    Bwaah ha ha...

  2. I did, but you can subscribe to individual messages. But why should I if he's going to sink my message and I still get the regular supply of assholes? Doesn't seem right.

Seems like Bloggin' Toree SOP to me.

You have to change your pseudonym to "Fiberals Die!" or "Pissed off in Cranbrook" or "Liz J."

  5. I watched Heddy and two other Liberal MPs being interviewed on TV this evening. They did say that as MPs they should be given preferential access to the vacine.
Seems MPs shouldn't have to queue up like the rest of us. But wait, they were Liberals! They should be entitled.

  6. Taylor and disqus do need a shower and some new methods. Taylor is continuing to post stuff that is ,at best, garbage.

As for his rendition of Hedy Fry onre should note how he spikes his comments to be very anti liberal. Even the truth is not as important as Lib bashing.

I also think he has penis envy over the ability of WK to get many more headlines.

  7. You might have the phrase "making gov't work" echoing thru your head BCL,(there is a reason why things echo BCL) but I have the comments of my sister running thru mine. You see,BCL, my sister used to work at a pharmacy in downtown Vancouver. She would talk about a woman that would come in and demand that her prescription be filled right away because she was a MP and had important work to do, or was on the way to Ottawa and needed it filled right away. She hated having to wait. 10 points if you can guess who this woman might be. ;)

    Interesting story, jm.
My second cousin used to run a dry cleaner in Ottawa where all the Conservatives would drop off their suits and silk wank rags.
Anyhow, he'd chat with them and most of them would tell him how they hated Canada and wanted to destroy it.

  9. the big difference here Lenny, is I didn't make my story up.

  10. jm, we all have stories like that. I was in a security line up at Toronto airport when harpo was still opposition leader and he charged to the front of the line saying who he was a that he might miss his flight.

Hedy fry keeps getting re elected by the way so her constituents think highly of her. BCL's logic here is dead on.

  11. I know these MPs in Ottawa who think it's fine to blow billions of my children's future income, ignore climate change so my children will have a harder life, and confuse public interests with private ones while spending many millions of our money on those private interests.

But hey, 'Hedy Fry shiny thing!'

Pharmacy? Is that what they're calling it now?

  13. Hey JM, butting in front of line merely makes them a Vancouverite. Ever stood in a queue in Yaletown before? The Beautiful People dont believe in lines...

Jeez making a mountain out of nothing JM. Ive seen just as bad behaviour with my own eyes out of Mayencourt and John Reynolds. The difference is JM, mine is an eyewitness story, your's is hearsay.

Must suck when your anecdote gets invalidated.

  14. The video captures HF demanding a clinic is set up on parliament hill for workers and MP's because they shake a lot of hands.

I am not sure how this is "out of context." by highlighting some representatives in opposition feel entitled.

BCL, was her quote edited out of context?

You post attempts to defend her rationale because these people are critical.

The first week is for high risk, do you think healthy adults should jump ahead?

Do you think the Province, City officials who are charged to deliver the Plan should be blamed or forced by the Federal politicians who might not be deemed as high risk?

Does Hedy Fry think people all the person who have contact front line should have clinics before other high risk groups?

Terry1 complaining about boards you frequent seems petty and disgenious.

We are "guests" on these blogs.

  15. Jesus, shut the hell up, CS. A clinic just means sending out a public health nurse to give people a shot.

You Contards are blowing this way out of proportion just because it came from your favourite uppity brown woman, Hedy Fry. If Rona Ambrose had said the same thing (although being a bland, big-boned prairie gal, she wouldn't have managed the tone of a fiery Trinidadian), you wouldn't even have noticed. And if *she* had said it, I wouldn't have objected, since that would have been the least objectionable thing to come out of a Conservative gob in a long time.

Stephen Taylor is doughy douche with wide hips.

  16. TG,

like some cheese with your whine?

Why did you introduce race, gender into this debate?

Simply put a member in opposition thinks "they" are a higher priority than high risk group as indentified by medical experts.

Stop hiding behind gender, race and invoking Jesus to save your feeble defense.

  17. Michael Ignatieff agrees with reasonable people as well in contrast with HF.

I applaud MI for his tweet.

I'll be getting my #H1N1 vaccine after priority groups have had theirs first. Working together, Canadians will beat this pandemic.
