Blogging Tories Turn On One Another...
They're trying to ban blogger and sometime on-tv guy Garth Nicklaus for being too damn Liberal. And I've read some of Garth's stuff, and damned if the guy isn't pretty damn Liberal. I'm pretty sure he's one of our 5th columnists; in fact I think I remember handing him a paper bag full of adscam cash from JC himself.

But Bland Works
This line of criticism re the Libs' English ad is as predictable as it is mis-guided. You don't want to introduce your leader to the public with an attack on the other guys. In the words of Jack Stanton, you never want to be the first one to act like an asshole. And when Nicholls writes
Well strategically speaking they make no sense. These kind of positive, hokey ads only work if your guy is way out in front.
...he misses the point entirely. They also work if you want to give the audience the impression that your guy is out in front, at least figuratively--that he's responsible, has a positive vision for the nation, and isn't interested in partisan cheap shots. You don't want to give the impression that he's a perpetually angry jerk with no class and no couth, if only because the Torys have that demographic sewn up already.
I'm sure the Libs have a darker line of campaign rhetoric at the ready, but this is not the time for it. Nicholls problem, and the problem with Conservatives generally, is that for them, if you're not accusing someone of being a pedophile or a commie, its just not campaigning.

Tories Show Fear
...Gerry Nicholls discovers to his horror that Liberals know how to do "hokey". He thought it was a Conservative thang that we'd never understand. Hey bonehead, it was Dalton McGuinty gave us "family day" and the highway of heroes.
We also know how to do "edgy". We're a little bit country, a little bit rock n' roll. Whereas these days you guys are nothing but the theme from Deliverance, over and over again. Think about it, Tory mo fo, and tremble.
PS. The next election is gonna be Red vs. Blue. Sweater on sweater action, Nicholls. Suck on that.

Tories Crack Down On Facebook Gun-Play!
Looks like I got it wrong the other day when I wrote that Chris Reid, Gerry Nichols, and other Tory rebs had successfully faced down the party's attempt to ban the representation of fire-arms from Facebook profile pics. The Jackboot came down in the form of an email to Chris:
Chris ,
I regret that it has come to this but after speaking with the other admins we have decided that you need a " cooling off period " from the conservative facebook groups . you are not being banned but removed for at least a period of 1 month . for your failure to listen to my warnings about your recent profile picture , you have to remember that you are a former candidate and somewhat of a high profile one after what happened last election. you have a duty to learn from your mistakes and to shape a positive image of the party one that was not coming together on your posts to the facebook group. you clearly have not learned from your past mistakes and continue to make the same mistakes that got you into trouble before, i as a moderator i cannot sit back and watch this happen again . over time i hope you realise that this is necessary and in the best interests of those involved .
Ryan Rantz
Meanwhile, we pathetic progressive types debate such ephemera as the B.C. Carbon Tax and the Braidwood Inquiry.
PS. Chris Reid has literally moved to Australia (not figuratively, which you might say about someone who has recently died). Yet still roils the movement.

Tories Will Let You Pack As Much Heat As You Want On Facebook

Chris Reid and Gerry Nicholls have been leading a small group of Tory dissidents in an online revolt designed to force the party functionaries to let members display guns in their profile pictures on the CPoC and PCPO FaceBook groups. As you can see, they have been arming up and daring the party to "defriend" them.
Yesterday I asked Gerry how went the rebellion. Had they been turfed from either forum?
Hi BigCity Lib: Nope so far Chris and I are still in the group.

Gerry Nicholls To CPoC Base: Let's Self-Immolate!
Or better yet, maybe it’s time for old-time Reformers to start demanding their voices be heard within the party.
To be blunter, the Reformers should take back their party.
So far, Gerry is most ticked-off about the "Quebec Nation" resolution, but underneath I sense a longing for a return to the Imperial System of measurement. Go for it, Gerry! Down with Metric! And burn a couple of witches for good measure. Above all, be sure to get in touch with this guy and get working on "Plan B"!!!
As the Libs come together, the CPoC comes apart.
