Sask. NDP Avoids Obliteration

...the NDP's seat count meant the party avoided the wipeout of 1982 and the Progressive Conservatives in 1991, the last two times Saskatchewan changed governments.

So they were kicked out of office, but not kicked far, which is a good thing, as they have enough bodies to maintain an effective opposition and challenge again in the next election.

Actually, the Saskatchewan NDP had a pretty good run, and did a pretty good job, in their 16 years in power. Their governance during the downturn of the 1990s, when they were able to cut deficits and restructure without any of the divisive rhetoric or actions that accompanied, for example, Mike Harris' attempts in the same direction, were exemplary.

You have to think that Mr. Wall must be a little bit disappointed. This was supposed to be a victory of historic proportions, and until yesterday the polls had him up by 20 plus points. But in the final analysis, it looks like the "wolf in sheep's clothing" rhetoric changed enough minds to deny him unfettered control. Now the Saskatchewan Party will have to at least pretend to act normal.

Sask. Party Accused Of Supporting "POFRTN", Expresses Outrage

Somebody's been smoking too many chickenshit cigarettes, I think. From CTV:

REGINA -- Saskatchewan NDP television ads attacking the Opposition may be porn for political junkies in more ways than one.

The Saskatchewan Party is outraged that as the words Privatization of the Crowns dissolve in one part of the ad, the letters P, O, R, and N stay up a second longer than the rest.

Of course, Kate wants in on the ground floor of the madness. But here's something to consider: Saskatchewan is hub city for Canadian bigfoot sightings, and the Saskatchewan Party shares the first three letters of its name with the native Indian name for bigfoot, "Sasquatch". What does that tell you? Huh? HUH? And don't get me started on Saskatchewan and crop circles. Somehow they fit into the whole matrix. And did I just mention The Matrix? Oh My!
