A Metaphor For So Many Things

According to Bourque, one of the hearses in this derby is being driven by Tory MP Stephen Blaney--the winner, in fact (there's a second part to the clip viewable at Youtube). What's this tell us about our current government? That its best at driving around backwards in a death-car, smashing stuff?

The Next Item On The Agenda

...now that the HOC has made Shane Doan an endangered species, is to save Bigfoot:

So says Canadian [Conservative] MP Mike Lake who has called for Bigfoot to be protected under Canada's species at risk act, alongside Whooping Cranes, Blue Whales, and Red Mulberry trees.

Don't get me wrong, I've got nothing against Bigfoot. In fact I've admired him ever since he did that great work in those beer commercials circa 1983. But, as a few people have pointed out, there's a war on and we've got a planet to save. If this is the kind of initiative that we can expect from Canada's New Government into its second year in office, then I think its clear they really have "run out of script", and now that their much coveted majority is gone, gone, gone, they are flailing about madly for direction and coherence. (a point also made here in a normally Tory-friendly space.)

White House Abolishes Global Warming!

Run "Global Warming" through the White House internal search engine and you link to a single document that questions the existence of the phenomenon. On the other hand, a google search for GW related documents housed at whitehouse.gov brings back over 400 hits. This change seems to have occurred in the last couple of weeks.

Meanwhile, a quick look at Government of Canada Climate Change page provides insight into the thinking of the ruling Tories on this issue. Oh Wait! It's blank, and has been since July 2006! Guess they haven't stolen any ideas from here yet.
