Baby Bullshit

The world's 7,000,000,000th baby was not born this morning in Ottawa. Or rather, there's no way to tell which of the baby's delivered on October 31st, 2011 is the 7,000,000,000th, because nobody is, for example, peeking into all the yerts in Mongolia to see what baby's are being born over there when.

But of course, the Ottawa Citizen has some money and prizes to give out, so give them out they must. Good luck to young Caiden Lewis, but thumbs down to the Citizen: this is not news.  Its a self-serving stunt.

Ottawa Citizen Withdrawing Service In Ottawa?

4 out of 7 Ottawa Citizen newspaper boxes I passed on a walk at lunch today were being taken out of service. They had those same notices that were put up in the Nat Post boxes recently.

A rumour so far, I suppose, but from an Ottawa citizen that's always been a good source.

Another CanWest Columnist, Another Apology

Bourrie's latest, about the continuing decline of CanWest, reminded me of something:

"I recently published a column where I mentioned the name of a local Ottawa reader who, being concerned with the contents of certain of my past columns, filed, as is her right, complaints with the Ontario Press Council (OPC). Although I do not agree with her allegations as set out in her complaints, she has expressed that her allegations are founded and she was acting in good faith. I used words to describe her complaint which may have been misconstrued to be a personal slight against her. I did not intend to offend her personally and regret if I did so."
