Ezra Levant Out $32,500 In Costs

Full document here. Given the relatively unequivocal nature of the ruling, we can only assume that Ezra's appeal will fail and these costs will go up.

Check yesterday's post for the Leitch thing.

As for Ez, what are the grounds for appeal? He can't play the responsible journalist card because he didn't even bother trying to contact Vigna. I don't really see anything else that might work for him.

I really dont know. But a costs ruling would probably not affect it.

What you can count on however, is that any findings of fact made by the lower court wont get changed by the higher court. The application of the law to those facts may change however.

Lawyers can always find ground for appeal. Whether those grounds are valid though, that's another question and I really dont know enough about defamation or this case to comment.

Also, Im curious whether Vigna will x-appeal, because according to this costs ruling, some of the allegedly defamatory comments raised by Vigna were deemed to not be defamatory or were successfully defended by Vigna.
