Arthur Topham Update

From Doug Christie's newsletter. Updated from here.  319(2) is, of course, one of the Criminal Code hate speech provisions.

FYI, today we're still waiting on CONFIRMATION OF CHARGES from the RCMP before this story breaks in the MSM.

Harry, I noted the discussion over at FD comparing X to Y, with X being people like Topham and Y being anti-racism lefties who also are anti-Zionist (or at least very harsh critics of Israel). Will BB in addition to strong advocacy for the community and for Israel clarify its position to make it clear what while it opposes left wing BDS'ers, those in that category are not racists?

@Marky
Sorry, but your reasoning appears to me to be a bit convoluted. If you are implying that BB simply "condemns anyone who criticizes Israel" then that is a misapprehension.

Harry, I'm really trying to get down to the real issue here which is whether those who admit to being anti-Zionist (or, for some, those who are pretty fierce and constant critics of Israel to the point of demonization) but who (in both cases) don't appear to dislike Jews should be called anti-Semites. That is what was raised on that thread but, more important, that is what CPCCA examined a couple of years ago and discussed in its report. On that thread, it seems they're trying to say that those who actually do think anti-Zionism (and/or criticism that amounts to demonization, etc.) is a form of anti-Semitism are: 1. being inconsistent; and 2. are choosing to go after the less worrisome threat.

I think MM might be referencing this thread here:

That is the right link but not sure it displays without logging in. Harry will know, as he was part of it, and it referenced an earlier discussion here.
