A Not So Good News Polll

From the Calgary Sun:

MONTREAL -- A recent poll suggests the Conservatives have a slight lead over the Liberals.

The Leger Marketing survey gives the Tories 38% support, the Liberals 31%, the NDP 14% and the Bloc Quebecois 8%.

In Quebec, the Liberals (32%) and the Bloc (31%) are in a battle and are followed by the Conservatives at 24%.

In Ontario, the Tories are at 40%, compared to the Liberals' 35%.

The poll of 1,500 Canadians was conducted from Jan. 30 to Feb. 4, shortly after the Conservatives unveiled ads critical of Liberal Leader Stephane Dion.

Good Quebec news but, as Paul Wells notes, the infamous anti-Dion ads have not yet run in Quebec. We shall see whether this is a blip or something longer lasting. Baird's performance yesterday suggests the former.

OTTAWA–Liberal Leader Stéphane Dion is prepared to take "extraordinary measures" to boost the ranks of women candidates, including barring men from seeking nominations in some ridings. - TorStar

Qualification should be the only thing that determines who should be running for office, barring men does not lead this country to being run by the smartest and the brightest, mind you neither does the current system. In the end the voters choose the wrong people. Not to the extent of the states but still.

Whooee! Manuel sez -- "In the end the voters choose the wrong people."

I reckon that's called democracy.

Mebbe the Dionysians is tryin' t' right a historical wrong. How many nominatin' committees refused t' consider women candidates in the past, regardless o' their qualifications? An' the way MPs an' the press treat lady MP's, it ain't any wonder they ain't rushin' t' get nominated. How's Rona's hair? Who's B-Linda strappin' on?

the poll about harpers aproval is equal to this poll, no room to grow, and its about the same as last leger poll a year ago, they are not known for their accuracy, didnt they predict a harper majority in the last election? Once the dogs of politics are release on him, hes toast, as long as dion gets in ass in gear and talks about other policies than the environment I'd say, thing are looking up.

If a man wants to run in a riding that is designated 'Women Only', can he play the discrimination card?

Why did Gerard Kennedy force a WOMEN Lib candidate to step aside so as he could run in her riding?

SES poll tells a different tune.

I'm a Harper supporter but SES is the only polling firm I trust.

Somethings odd. I doubt Dion and Holland will be as bad in an election campaign as they've been over the past couple of weeks.
