While climate change realists have a nick-name for climate change skeptics--"Deniers"-- which neatly links their cause to those people who claim the Holocaust didn't happen, they did not until recently have a corresponding word for us, the vast majority of Humanity that understands the science and the need for action. But Lo!, a term has emerged: Global Warmers, or "Warmers" for short, as in:
The BBC reporter you cite is actually a devote warmer out to discredit our side...
(Tom Harris, January 12th)
...which is pretty damn lame, if you ask me. I feel like I'm being compared to a pair of mittens. Not insulting at all.
PS. If anyone is wondering where my earlier post went to, it was based on some unverified rumors re. climate change denier Timothy Ball that I decided eventually didn't warrent a full write-up. So naturally I hit the publish button by accident. The origonal quotation comes from here, though, about seven or eight comments down.

Jeepers, you should see how mad the 'warmers' are here in Calgary over David Suzuki's visit last week. Why, there are letters and I think an editorial in the Calgary Sun that even have my all time fave argument:
Climate change does not exist because David Suzuki said that we were entering an ice age in the 70's and it never happened.
BTW warmers is a totally lame name...
Tell us ignorant and dirty deniers, O Great Exalted and Chosen One, tell us your holy scientific credentials which allow you "to understand the science", where all we see is gobbbledigook and mumbo jumbo.
Tell us, O Scientitian, the details (in small words, of course) about the fundamental physical laws governing everything pertaining to the CO2/solar/atmospheric/temperature relationship. And the temperature, CO2, and sea level data. And the computer models which project all our future catastrophies.
I will wait patiently.
Shut up, anonymous.
If anyone is wondering where my earlier post went to...
...and my brilliant comment? Gone. Oh, the humanity.
Speaking of lame, put up that photo of Tom Harris again. Yes, that's mean, but no one said being a denier was going to be pretty...
Some deniers believed the earth was flat and we ran with dinasaurs.
Some 'scientists' believed the earth was flat, the sun revolved around the earth, and that there were only 5 planets. Scientists also at first thought dinosaurs were cold-blooded.
Whooee! Here's a good one --
Dinosaurs: Science Or Science Fiction
DinoDeniers! Every bit as convincin' as the climate change deniers.
JimBobby
Come on JimBobby, tell us what are your scientific credentials, and also why YOURS allow you to see the light, but those same scientific credentials of others should be discounted.
We know you're not an English major,
I'll ask it again...
BCL, how many times a year do you use a clothes dryer?
A complete waste of energy.
Any more than once is hypocritical.
anon 1:06:
1) I run to work everyday, or take public transit.
2) I do use a car, but keep it under 10,000K a year.
3) I wash clothes in cold water, and do indeed air dry anything where this is appropriate.
4) About half my light bulbs are CIs.
I could go on, but I suspect I'm already holier than thou.
Gee, I'm a neo-con denier, and I do better than you, bcl. I've taken the bus to work and university (23 years), keep my car use under 6,000Km/year, my thermostat never goes over 68 and is at 62 at night. About half my lights are also CF, the remainder are on dimmers. I recycle my clothes rinse water onto the lawn, as I NEVER put fresh water onto it. I also compost all my scraps, leaves, grass, and have for the last 15 years.
Wow, BCL. You've REALLY made a big sacrifice.
Since you're posting, what is your scientific background again? I must have missed it.
5) The heat in my apartment never goes above 50F. You can store meat in the hallway.
6) I personally saved a drowning polar bear.
7) David Suzuki calls me brother.
Keep trying, anon.
Isn't this getting silly - the flat-earth, walking with dinosaurs was a belief of a certain Conservative Minister of Public Safety - who also believed man walked with said dinosaurs 6,000 years ago.
I saved a polar bear from freezing to death by shooting it. It now resides in my basement meat locker. Mmmmmm, pooolar beaaaaaar (droooool). No cow farts were emitted, and I saved a bunch of seals by killing it.

Yeabbut, I bet in many other ways, you're probably just a cheapskate, and always have been.
Chronic cheapskatism is serving certain newly-born "environmentalists" of the conservative type well, I suppose, but being a bitter, penny-pinching miser isn't exactly what we're talking about when we're discussing sustainable economy.
There is a term for those who believe in Global Warming.
It's 'sucker'.
What?..Was "rube" too hard to spell, troll?
I know how to spell 'dipshit'.

Is that better?
I'm not trolling, I'm just trying to get some answers out of you believers. So far, nobody is offering up much.
Again, you're adding nothing to the discussion here, ti-guy. So far you've contributed
Shut up.
Cheapskate.
Rube & troll.
You truly are one of the great debaters. So the fact that I've been energy and environmentally conscious for longer than you've been out of diapers is somehow politically incorrect? I have to have the same 'belief' system for doing something in order for it to be valid? Is BCL a penny-pinching bitter miser as well? Saving energy for the sake of it isn't worthy of your PC praise? I suppose that my eating free-range, steroid and antibiotic free meat doesn't meet with your standards either, does it?
Put up or shut up, ti-guy. Actions - regardless of motives - speak louder than words. Again, tell us all, how have you helped save the planet, besides telling other people what to do?
Hi there. It does seem that your have stirred up some global warming flatulence. So I thought you and your readers might like to read this post http://timethief.wordpress.com/2007/02/09/the-climatic-effects-of-dinosaur-farts/
