Black Bloc Story In The Mark

What seemed bizarre and freakish on a mere blog, acquires authority when seen in this new context. You may have thought "This guy is seriously messed up in the head!" Now my words seem both true and inevitable.

Just the change in fonts adds a ton of credibility.

I think they are also illustrating just how tentative our rights can be.

After reading your article in The Mark, I'm not sure what you're trying to say.

You seem to use the term "anarchists" as a blanket term; are you describing all how come and protest at these shindigs?

As for the cops, are you saying you have doubts that the police brutality didn't happen or it was justified?

Just trying to clarify...

CK,

No, just the Black Bloc types.

And its not that that the police didn't employ (very) questionable tactics in places. Its just that they ALSO failed to accomplish anything (it sounds like everyone's out of jail and I'd bet a $20 none of the vandels gets tagged with a serious charge). You MIGHT be able to make an ends justifies the means argument if this wasn't the case. But under the circumstances you can't even do that.

thanks for clearing that up.

No the ends certainly don't justify the means, at least where chief Blair is concerned. nothing excuses him for creating non-existant laws, or getting fast and loose witht he truth.

To me, that just makes a community far more insecure.

I have a problem with the fact many blogging tories and con callers of radio callin shows are basically calling for proteting to be illegal.

They're saying all protesters (they don't distinguish between vandals and peaceful demonstrators) were doing illegal things; even giving the peace sign to police officers warranted a strike by a billy club. Since when did we as Canadian society become this intolerant?

I'm also sick of their (conservatives; harpercon cheerleaders) telling us that they're (protesters; demonstrators; even passersby who were arrested for being at wrong place at wrong time) all unemployed spoiled brats who never worked a day in their lives and live in their parents' basements.

It's too simplistic of them to say that we don't know police state as we haven't seen North Korea or Iran. Well, Police states and fascist regimes aren't built over night neither.

So - he didn't want anyone near the fence - oh God help us all, we're so oppressed.

The overhype is pathetic.

CK.

So.

Send me the demographic profile of the protesters.

As I posted.. I'm thinking there weren't too many taxi cab drivers and chamber maids in that group.

I'm thinking not a lot of small farmers.

I'm thinking, in general, that the group was highly represented by students and the unemployed (and maybe a few spoiled, churlish rich children trying to "show daddy").

But maybe I'm wrong.

With respect to the protesters, I think you will find a diverse group. There were persons with disabilities, First Nation Groups, and Christians trying to combat poverty (and yes, anarchists were there as well):
