Take a valium dude! First of all, there will be a lot of people validating still before the deadline. Second of all, assuming that the email addresses are actually validated, the Liberal Party has an awesome addition to their database, worth really large bucks, and botaloads of goodwill. I agree that if the supporter category dies, then it was nought but a gimmick. A pretty succesful one, but still a gimmick. However, should Liberals actually recognise what a great success this has been, then the Liberal Party will continue recruiting supporters. The key is now to maintain it as a continuous process, refining it with the passage of time. The next thing is to work on engaging those, and new supporters, and roping them into the fold. So long as new supporters are signing on, and more and more effective means of engaging them are developed, it is a no brainer. It will grow.

Trudeau has asked for an extension due to technical problems:

I noticed some comments on his FB page from people complaining they tried to register and it didn't work.

I registered to vote several weeks ago, but have not heard or received any sort of verification. Not sure what that means. Guess I just wait?

Steve, when you say you registered, does that mean you did both step 1 (sign up as supporter) and step 2 (register)? If you only did step 1 you need to wait for them to give you instructions to register.

If you did step 2 and provided email you should have received confirmation saying you were registered and the next step would be them sending you a PIN (which isn't until late March). I don't know what happens if you don't give them an email.

I'm seeing lots of comments from people who say they signed up as supporters and want to vote but have not received anything. Presumably the party will get info for registering out before their own deadline or else they will have to shift the deadline.

I should have checked my old emails before I wrote that. On February 8th I received notification my registration was received along with a thank you for certifying all information provided was true. According to the letter I am now waiting for the membership secretary to review my registration and approve my eligibility to vote. After that is done, as you say, I receive my PIN late March.
Thanks, ch.

Agreed. New processes take time to mature and grow. Relax.

Explain to me why people who become supporters and pay to do so should have a vote of the same weight as people who just hopped onto the old bandwagon. Your base is those who pay enough to have joined up and paid to do so, not the free-loaders.

You're not broadening the base you're asking for trouble. You are going to be freeped.

Is ten dollars such a hardship?

Wow.

The ten bucks is the easiest part. The hardship is dealing with all the twats at the grassroots/riding level.
