You Want An Extremist? Here's A TRUE (Tory) Extremist!

The Conservatives are claiming that they have the right to get away with slander because Liberals have called them "extremists" in the past. Well, that's because they deserved the term. Lest anyone forget what the real article looks and sounds like, here's links to video of 2006 Tory candidate for Ajax Pickering, Rondo Thomas. In less than five minutes, Rondo argues that:

1) The Earth is 6,000 years old.
2) Marriage is only for procreation
2) The Facts are wrong.

Find a guy like this on the Liberal side of the fence, and we'll talk? Okay? Otherwise, prepare your lawyers and prepare to say sorry.

How Much Is That Headline On The Website?

Yesterday, Jason Cherniak might have got Bourqued!* In the midst of a post offering "Constructive Criticism" of Stephane Dion and his Liberal team, Jason suggested that Michael Ignatieff should "stop asking the PM questions" during question period. Whether this is good advice or not is beside the point (I disagree with it, but won't argue that here). Suddenly, however, comments were appearing on this blog and elsewhere to the effect that Jason had ignited a Liberal Civil War! Even better, a headline appeared on Bourque's Newswatch: DION BACKER [ie. Cherniak], RIDING PREZ CALLS FOR IGGY QUESTION BAN!

Since Bourque is best known for selling headlines, the news value of his site is dubious at best. In fact, the only interesting thing to ask about this particular header is: did someone pay for it, and if so who, and (most importantly) if so, for how much?

Because if you can't beat him, why not join him? I'd pay money to have selected headlines appear on Bourque's Newswatch. How about something like "Harper Enters Third Trimester".
* Bourqued: to be the subject of a bought, usually negative headline on Pierre Bourque's website

His Finest Moment

The performance we will remember him by.

Galactus And The Young Liberal Petition

From Vijay's Site:

The Young Liberals of Canada have put together a petition demanding that Stephen Harper apologize for the slanderous and inappropriate comments he made in the house regarding Honourable Navdeep Bains and his family.

The link to the petition is below.

http://www.petitiononline.com/ylc2007/petition.html

I personally don't sign these things. They are, as Warren Kinsella once learned to his great chagrin, too easy to prank, and therefore meaningless. However, as I support the intent behind this one, and as I like to encourage the young people of today in any activity that goes beyond smoking crack and firing off their gats and nines, I will put in a good word with my buddy Galactus.

Keep your nose clean, young Liberals, and The Eater of Worlds himself may show up and sign your petition! And his signature is worth a hundred signatures from any pathetic human.

Conservatives Smear Conservative Supporter In Attempt To Justify Previous Smear

The CPoC is now questioning the integrity of Professor Errol Mendes, a University of Ottawa human-rights and constitutional expert, who has argued that Stephen Harper's revealing the contents of this Vancouver Sun story in the HOC on Friday, February 23rd, in itself constituted a breach of one of the very anti-terror provisions Harper is fighting to preserve:

Goodale had not even mentioned Mendes's name when [Conservative House leader Peter] Van Loan replied by naming Mendes, "who of course has been a very significant contributor to the Liberal party over the years."

A spokesman for Van Loan later said Mendes' contributions to the Liberal party, listed on the Elections Canada website, were checked after his comments were published Friday. Van Loan was armed with the information in notes for question period.

However, there is a certain irony to this, because Mendes is, by his own admission:

...one of the few constitutional and human rights professors who support the government's wish to extend the investigative hearings and prevents arrest provisions that expire next Thursday unless the Commons and Senate vote for an extension.

Man, these Tories can't smear worth spit! Hint: Try saying sorry, it hurts less than you think.
