She's Back!!

When word of the bogus embezzlement charges against Bill Casey first came to light, it was discovered that the woman behind them was Tory operative Diana Read-Miedema. As the resultant outrage spread, Ms. Miedema quickly removed herself and her many, many websites from cyberspace.

Well, perhaps things have blown over, because the site devoted to Ms. Miedema's accounting business, Simply Financials, is back on-line.

Unfortunately, most of her more religious based sites are still down, but this one remains and it begs the question: what the hell is a soaking prayer?

And another question that begs asking: is Ms. Miedema still official agent for the Conservative riding association in Cumberland-Colchester-Musquodoboit Valley?

She shouldn't be.

Prominent Tory Calls For Tory Heads To Roll Over Casey Smear

An excerpt:

I was Tory as a University Campus Club member, as supporter and member and worker and then Member of Parliament and after losing (to the usual Liberal tactics of making the electorate fear the Tories more than them and so vote for the lesser of two evils, the Grits) a Riding President, Regional Chairman and a Subject Chairman at an Ontario Federal Policy Conference.

At no time during the 40 odd years between 1960 and 1993 was there any occurrence to my knowledge or recollection that in any way, shape or form was of a nature such as the actions taken against Bill Casey - actions out of ______, you provide a rationale for I can not think of one that makes any sense from a political point of view.

There may be those receiving this who do consider the actions taken as not being unworthy of Tories and are not disturbed by the headlines.

There may be those who do not believe, as I do, it is incumbent upon the decision makers in the Conservative Party of Canada to determine who those responsible for the Black Ops without purpose were and eject them from your Party. These may well take exception to this post being sent.

We all make choices. To do otherwise than act against the 'Black Operatives' who perpetrated these misdeeds, not only going to he RCMP but blacking out and circulating their report, is to sanction their actions as being acceptable to Tories.

This Smear Job Was Approved By Jesus Christ

Max pointed out this morning that Diana Read-Miedema, the nice lady and Tory volunteer/riding operative who accused Bill Casey of embezzlement, is a follower of Charles McVety. In fact, she does a little prophetic writing for Third Watch Ministries, the Lord having


placed a "Deborah mantle" upon Diana Read-Miedema to sing the Song of Deborah over Canada - 'AWAKE! AWAKE, UTTER A SONG! ARISE and LEAD AWAY YOUR CAPTIVES!' (Judges 5:12).

In 2004 Diana was given the mandate to create a web site to edify a global "Deborah Company" with prophetic writings, devotions, testimonies, and book reports from proven ministry. This will help those who do not have the means, time, or ability to travel to conferences and/or buy books and tapes.

Where The Premiers Stand On Coalition

A nice round-up from The Shotgun:

Ed Stelmach of Alberta wants the opposition to back down to ensure stability.
Danny Williams of Newfoundland says he'll work with the coalition but he's not taking sides. (From Mike Duffy)

Brad Wall of Saskatchawan wants the opposition to at least wait until the budget to bring down the government. (From Mike Duffy)

Dalton McGuinty of Ontario wants things to end quickly so he can sooner give incompetent auto executives public funds.

Gary Doer of Manitoba is expressing no real opinion.

Rodney MacDonald of Nova Scotia blames everyone for the instability and fears potential Bloc influence.

Bill Casey A Tory Again?

So they're saying at FreeD.

Earlier this week, Kady hosted an interesting discussion on the make-up of parliamentary committees given the number of MPs from each party in the HOC. I wonder if Casey's return (assuming that he is returning) will give the Tories their long-sought committee Majority?

Recapping Kadey's math

143 MPS + Casey = 144 MPS= 46.7% of House Seats.

12 (standard committee size) x 0.467 = 5.6 members per committee, if these are allocated in proportion to HOC seats.

5.6 rounded up gives 6 seats per committee. Where the committee is chaired a Member of an opposition party, that is a limited majority.

Harper Makes Unforced Error

Basically, if you're trying to buy someone's vote, you don't pee on the money first, which is what Stephen Harper did yesterday when he announced his off-shore oil deal with Nova Scotia Premier Rodney MacDonald:

Bill Casey, a Nova Scotia Conservative MP, got kicked out of caucus by voting against a procedural motion related to the budget to register his support of Nova Scotia's position.
Harper said this deal will not clear the way to Casey's return to the federal Tory caucus.

"Mr. Casey is not welcome into our caucus ... when there is a next federal election, there will be a Conservative candidate in Mr. Casey's riding, and it will not be Mr. Casey," he said.

In offering thanks, MacDonald mentioned Nova Scotia Tory MPs Peter MacKay and Gerald Keddy, but he didn't mention Casey by name.


Talk about pointlessly nasty. If you are going to sacrifice a Nova Scotia seat from sheer cussedness (because Casey will almost surely win as an independent), isn't it best to at least do it quietly? But this is not the Harper style; Harper's style is to lash out at those who have crossed him, no matter that the guy is a hero in Nova Scotia and that insulting him publicly will squander the very good will that Harper has been attempting to cultivate.

So the Bad Stephen Harper is back, which Steve V noticed last night and a few in the MSM have picked up on this morning. Excellent! Just in time for the Throne Speech.

Go Green, Bill Casey!

After being unable to woo former Conservative now Liberal MP Garth Turner to join the Green Party fold earlier this year, May said Tuesday she's a big fan of the Cumberland-Colchester-Musquodoboit Valley MP and his stance against his former party.

Let me just recycle something I wrote last year about Garth Turner, but with the name "Bill Casey" subbed in for Garth:

Casey's joining The Green Party would constitute a historical moment in Canadian politics. Polling at about 10%, the Greens still do not have a seat in parliament and, given the de-centralized nature of their support, will be hard pressed to win one in the next Federal election, especially since Elizabeth May will probably not have a place on stage during the leadership debates. However, if Mr. Casey joins up, his seat comes along with him, and when an election is called Elizabeth gets her crack at addressing a national audience with the other contenders.

If you doubt how much influence a single good debate performance can have, remember the B.C. Liberals of the early 1990s'. Gorden Wilson's performance in the 1991 CBC debate propelled the Libs from zero seats in the legislature to Official Opposition status. Elizabeth May has been quite impressive in her televised appearances, and giving a good account of herself in the debates could be the shot that realigns Canadian politics.

And realigns it in God knows what manner? Many Tories would apparently pick the Green Party as their second choice in an election. Surely the NDP could lose support to the Greens. And I would not be surprised if a good portion of Liberal supporters would be happy to embrace a Left-wing party not so enamored with the Working Class Hero bullshit of the New Democrats.

In short, Bill Casey has a chance to to something of historic significance. I hope he takes it.
