Among some other more obvious points from Now Magazine's cautionary piece "Terror in the Details" comes this interesting tidbit:
Qayyum Abdul Jamal, the eldest of those charged and the suspect portrayed in media reports as the force behind the alleged radicalization of the young suspects, wasn't actually charged with recruiting for the purpose of a terrorist activity.
I would love to know the import of this little fact.

It certainly is interesting.
Then again, there are several logical possibilities. First that there are more charges to come. This is probably a complicated case, and they are still going through all their evidence, and may have decided to wait on that charge until they were fully prepared to move forward on it.
Also, depending upon how the "recruiting" law is worded, it may also be more difficult to prove, and perhaps they decided to stick with what they considered their "slam dunk" charges.
It's also possible that they still have people under surveillance, and don't wish to completely tip their hand to people who are still out theere by charging the person who recruited them, with recruiting them. The suggestion has been made that there could be more arrests, so maybe they're waiting until they've arrested everyone he recruited, so they can charge him with ALL of the recruiting activities he engaged in at once.
Or, maybe there's something even more interesting going on.
I don't think we can say for sure yet.
