Would Libs Do Better On Environment?

Some people think so, but not many:

While 38 per cent of the respondents believed the Liberals would be no different, 21 per cent said the Liberals could do a better job, and six per cent said the opposition party would be worse, according to the poll that was commissioned by the Canadian Renewable Fuels Association and released to CanWest News Service.

Note that Praxicus, the pollsters, "do polling for the Conservative Party of Canada", according to the story.

The poll also found:

...also found an overwhelming majority of Canadians, 88 per cent, support the government's plan to require a five-per-cent renewable fuel content in Canadian gasoline and diesel fuel by 2010.

With Layton pushing for a higher target (ten per cent renewables), any emergent green legislation will likely have a component dedicated to encouraging ethanol use. This will have to be examined very carefully. While the latest research confirms the environmental benefits of "biofuels", it also indicates that the best result may lie in burning agricultural waste products rather than corn itself.

It would be a pity if the renewable fuels section of the new Green Plan wound up being nothing more than a subsidy to corn growers.

Thanks for the tip...

When will these idiots quit using "push poll" techniques to form public opinion? They're so goddamned transparent about it that it's insulting. (Not to mention the incredible dishonesty it shows)

so 62% of Canadians know about the utterly dismal track record of the Liberals on meeting Kyoto reductions.

Or maybe 62% read Citoyen DIon's infamous Green Plan, which could pass as a script for a sitcom

The environment is an issue that is a mile wide and an inch deep. Get with it dude.

God, can't you just smell the halitosis from anonymous when he blasted this bit of suckage?

*sigh*...I really wish they'd refrain from attempting wit.

"smell the halitosis from anonymous when he blasted this bit of suckage?"

so you read Dions' Green Plan as well ??

It really was a stinker

"Halitotis" is a chronic problem of bad breath. I should have explained that earlier. Sorry.

The net conclusion from this result is that Dion campaigning on the environment will largely benefit the Greens, and perhaps the NDP. Maybe that's why Elizabeth May "likes" Dion.
